Good-bye, 2007

I really cannot say that I am sorry to see you go.

You were not good to me, as far as years go.

At the end of this year, I am more tired than I have ever been. And, I am older than I have ever been. But so is everybody else. So there.

I like the new house, although I had actually planned to never own a house again. THGGM is having fun painting everything. This entry is a lovely shade of green, with a paler shade in the hallway. I do like that.

By far the worse thing in 2007 was watching my mother decline. Tomorrow she will wake up on her 60th wedding anniversary away from her husband. And she will not know it.

The best thing about 2007 was the birth of Famke, presently asleep in the room at the end of this hallway and to the left in this picture. Jonge is asleep in the blue guest room. When he wakes up tomorrow morning, he will be two years old.
As one hand begins to let go, another reaches out.
And the years continue to roll along, picking up speed as they go.

  1. Oh my, the passing of years can be so bittersweet.

I love the green, by the way.

  2. What a heartfelt reflection of the year past. I too am glad to let last year go, in that one single year, I aged about 10 years. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family and especially your Mother and Dad as this new year is ushered in. Blessings.

  5. What lovely shots of your new home. You really are the Christmas Queen, Judy!

Your grandkids are so dear. I can't believe Jonge is 2!

I've been a serious couch potato lately - had a hysterectomy and tummy tuck on 12-18. My family has been great help, and I'm recovering nicely.

Happy New Year! Hope this is a more restful one for you!

  6. It just tumbles along - relentlessly - relentless is my word at the moment.

You have hugs and prayers on this end of the line.
