I have a friend named Muriel. She is in her eighties, but you would never guess it looking at her. I have known her all my life. Many years ago, she was the teacher at summer Bible school who got me all excited about archeology. Over a decade ago, her husband died after a 7 year struggle with a brain tumor.
This past October, Muriel's granddaughter -in-law died very suddenly from an undetected heart problem, leaving a husband, a three year old son, and a new born baby boy. The three year old just could not understand this, as he KNEW that his mommy would NEVER leave him. Someone told me that he would hear his mommy's voice on her cellphone, and talk to her. They figured they would let him do this, as it made him feel better, and they would deal with it when he grew older.
Last Thursday the husband God gave me and I were at Muriel's house with some other friends. She showed us pictures of her grandson and his family. Darling little boys. She told us how some family and friends were working to give her grandson a little vacation break, as life has been so overwhelming for him these past four months.
But, then today, I got a call from a friend. Had I heard that this man and his two young sons were in a very serious car accident? I hadn't. Yesterday morning, the three year old boy died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Please pray for Muriel, her family, and especially her grandson who was also injured.
