Please check this out...

Marla, at http://www.marlaswoffer.com/ has begun a new blog based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. You can find it at http://www.typeblogs.com/. I will happily add a link to the site on my 'sidebar' once I figure out exactly how to do that. Please visit, join, and let me know what you think! (okay, for MY family, let me know how you 'FEEL'!)

I am an INTJ. Everytime I think that this might have somehow changed, I retest and find that I am a dyed-in-the-wool INTJ. It has never varied. Not even once.

I also have absolutely no 'E' in me. Unless, of course, you count those other three letters that periodically describe me, PMS. Then, if you ride your bike across my lawn, I will yell at you.

I was raised by two 'S's, so for a while many people thought that I also was a sensor. But, low, I'm just an 'N' who had developed some good habits, that after 26 years out of that environment have sadly disappeared.

I realized early in my marriage that I am a 'T' and THGGM is an 'F'. This happened in the middle of the lamest movie I ever saw. I leaned over to him to tell him that, and noticed he was crying. Maybe he was just overwhelmed by how incredibly lame it was.

I'm a 'J'. Everyone else in my family - 'P's.

Just last week it came to my attention that THGGM, Oldest Son and Youngest Son are all ENFP's. Chips off the ol' block. Daughter is an ESFP, the exact opposite of me.

So...run along now, and check it out!

So you and your family are PJs? Actually, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Where's the one that tells you all of the initials? I took a test that told me the following and then wanted me to cough up money to tell me more.

"You're a Chosen One!

As thoughtful as you are, there's still a more spontaneous, adventure-seeking side of you. That combined with your ever-present curiosity leads to a particularly high energy level that people both envy, and want to have around them."

Me? High energy? Must be kdding.

anvilcloud, try the test at http://www.humanmetrics.com

Take the FREE one. I hadn't taken that one before, yet I still come up INTJ. It explains it fairly well. I do have a favorite book which describes it all even better: "Type Talk" by Otto Kroeger and Janet M. Thuesen.

Hello from one INTJ to another. I do know exactly what you are talking about. Do you think that INTJs are a rather odd type to have as a mother? Maybe I should ask what your kids say.

Greetings. Oldest Son here.

I, like my mom, have taken the test several times and always gotten the same result. One test, though, which measured expressiveness and listening (E or I) showed them to be tied, so my E is not dominant. This translates to loving to be with people I like (E), who tend to be a select few (I).

As far as Dogwood Blues question, both of my parents are odd (as you know if you've read this blog often), and I wouldn't have it any other way.

See, I'm not so sure. I'm supposedly an ESFP according the the test you linked, but I have a lot of I traits. I would rather read a book than hang out at a party. But once at the party, I like to tell stories and am very social. I am an actress, so obviously am a performer, but I recharge by going back into my shell and being more contemplative. I think these free tests can't go into the depth and subtlety that the tests you pay for do. I once did the Myers-Briggs test, I'll have to dig out my results.

I read somewhere that it helps to view it as a line.

Take the E and I for example.

E----------------------(me)I

We all fall somewhere on that line.

I'm all the way over to the right. ALWAYS.

With the S and N

S----------------(me)------N

I'm sort of halfway, but closer to the N.

With the T and F

T-(me)---------------------F

I'm way closer to the T. I DO feel, I just don't make my decisions based on my emotions as much as on fact.

With the J and P

J-(me)---------------------P

I'm told this is the easiest one to see. For me, it's the hardest. But, all of the tests have me close to the J. And I am not spontaneous AT ALL.

But remember, it is what you 'tend' toward. I refuse to write this in cement!

youngest son here

i think older brother summed it up nicely. my mom is odd. whether or not that is a result of her being an INTJ i do not know.
