Saturday Morning

It was just me and THGGM for breakfast at Russ' Saturday morning. He had oatmeal (oatmeal...in a restaurant - i just don't get it) I had a fabulous omelet with cheddar cheese, ham, mushrooms, and a side of rye toast.

After breakfast it was on to thrift shopping. He didn't find a thing, but I think I did rather well in the book department!

HAVING OUR SAY - The Delany Sister's First Hundred Years - by Sarah and A. Elizabeth Delany

LAKE WOBEGON SUMMER 1956 - by Garrison Keillor

BENEATH THE SURFACE - Steering Clear of the Dangers That Could Leave You Shipwrecked - by Bob Reccord

ONLY THE HEART KNOWS HOW TO FIND THEM - Precious Memories for a Faithless Time - by Christopher de Vinck

WE ARE YOUR SISTERS - Black Women in the Nineteenth Century - edited by Dorothy Sterling

A CHILD'S GARDEN OF VERSE - by Robert Louis Stevenson, illustrated by Eulalie (1961)

BIRDS - A Guide to the Most Familiar American Birds - a Golden Nature Guide (1949)

CHOCOLATE FROM THE CAKE MIX DOCTOR - 150 Easy Recipes for Deep, Dark, Delicious Cakes - by Anne Byrn

GIVE ME A BREAK - How I Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media - by John Stossel

No time to read just yet...but I'm adding these to my summer reading pile. Except for the bird book, I think I might be using that to frame the small bird prints, or to decoupage with. Oh, the IDEAS...Ideas...ideas...

You suppose the job worries may be keeping him from wanting to eat much? We eat oatmeal most mornings too...but also at least eggs and sometimes a little piece of some kind of meat.

Your book finds sound great! It is fun to thrift shop, isn't it? I mostly look for clothing...hubby HATES my book stash which I have had to pare down many times (moves wise anyway)! SO I must refrain from even looking most times.

Hope to hear that things work out well job wise soon....too bad you cannot make money on some of your ideas, of which you seem to have plenty! Ever thought of writing a book of all you ideas on things? Might be very useful in days to come, with the ever declining economy!

Personally, I am working on a cookbook...seems I am kept very busy trying to change recipes so different ones in the family can eat them...so just as well make some gain from the pain, eh? At least, all us gals in the family are planning to do our part...most of us on recipes, but one daughter on the artwork for it, etc. Not sure when we will publish but the one daughter could make us a website too....one of these days! Going on a business trip soon with hubby and will have several days to entertain myself...so planning to work on that...if I can get him to set up the computer to "take" my recipes as I would wish...

Elizabeth - I too have a family cookbook in the works. My dream is to do it all by hand, with little drawings and such - so far, the dream is stronger than the hand, which aches if I write or draw more than a page.

Cindy - I haven't seen anything unusual. Lots of Robins, and they did come late. Also, a charming pair of mourning doves. I just wish they would mourn a little less in the morning.
