I Was Five Years Old...

...42 years ago when JFK was assasinated. I was home from morning kindergarten. Mom and I were watching TV that afternoon, because she wasn't feeling well.

At the age of five, I wasn't all that aware of what was going on. But, I know my mother really wasn't feeling well, as I distinctly remember her saying with a sigh, 'now this is the only thing that is going to be on TV.'

I wonder what the world would be like if this tragic event had not happened.

I also wonder what else C.S. Lewis would have written if he hadn't died on this same day.

I did not know CS Lewis died the SAME day as JFK!! I guess it was rather unnoticed with all that happened those few days. I was in 6th grade in California and our teacher went and got a TV from someplace to put in our room and I remember him crying...come to think of it...that teacher never returned after Christmas Break that year...and NO ONE ever knew where he went or what happened...isn't that strange? I never put this all together until I read your post just now...WOW!

I too was 5 and remember that my mom was really upset about it. She tried to explain the significance of the event to me but I didn't understand. Interesting that even I, a Canadian child, could recognize that this was an event of great impact.
