I took a teensy little break from People Watching and went thrift shopping tonight.
I was in the store, oh, maybe twenty minutes.
Today is cheap book day. Let it be noted that I spent one thin dime on a book. A paper back copy of "The Little Flowers of St. Francis". I might even read it.
Guess what else I found? TWO little tiny cake pans. One of Mickey Mouse and one of Pooh. Oh, and four of the old-timey Christmas cookie cutters. And a cookie cutter of a small hand. If that wasn't enough, for 99 cents I found a tiny tea pot. White with a cobalt blue trim. Too cute, I say.
In the craft area I found some wooden heads with faces already painted on them. To my delight I found a small jar of old white buttons. One can never never never have too many of those. This is only because one just may forget where one has put the plethora of old white buttons one has. Somewhere.
Now. I was happy enough with all that. But, I did make ONE trip down the old and forsaken game aisle. I thought I would glance quickly to see if maybe, just maybe an old Scrabble game could be had for very cheap. No such luck.
BUT! Oh, what I did find was such a delight! I found a 1959 deck of word flash cards, in FRENCH! Can you belieeeeeeeeve it? I nearly danced out of the store. No. Actually, I walked. But, I walked happily!
I have hopes of turning these French flash cards into the coolest ever bookmarks. EVER. Because, well. Who doesn't need bookmarks?
I also found three picture frames that perfectly fit the drawings I made yesterday.
Ahhhh.
My favorite kind of Christmas shopping. Thrifting for things that nobody wants, but me!
(and, all this,..this,..this,..fabulous stuff, came to under $7.00)

that's what YOU think. OH. how i want to come shopping with you, and nearly shove you over just to be the one to find those buttons first. Because I only have fiftyfour million kadrillion buttons of my own. I just don't know exactly where. I don't exactly care.
I want more.
Judy, you always make me chuckle with your thrifting stories. I am very impressed.
And the French flash cards are a find! But I would use them to learn French, myself.
Those are beautiful! I'm so glad you found them and shared them with us. Oh, and I've been meaning to say I'm still coming over here everyday but I haven't left comments lately--got too much on my plate! But as always, I love reading what you write and your pictures are always treasures, too! Blessings, Debra
