Goodness. Aren't I the prolific poster today?
As is my confessed habit, I leave HGTV on most of the day when I am home alone. This means I can rewind and watch the things that interest me, and also the things that are appalling. Sometimes it's a mix.
At some point we intend to punch up our kitchen a little bit. Not remodel, as we like it's vintage 50's-ness. WE are vintage 50's-ness. So, the cupboards will stay, the counter tops will stay, the gold vinyl flooring will stay (unless the gray linoleum in one of the kitchen closets is under the gold vinyl, but i dare not hope). What will go are the vertical blinds. I want to get those white cafe curtains with the pom-poms on them. It won't be cheap, as the windows are not tiny, and there are five of them. But, I have not convinced THGGM. Yet. There is not one thing wrong with the blinds, except that I do not like them. I could fix that, but I won't. So, maybe they will come down 'temporarily'. Yeah. That might work.
Now, on one of those HGTV shows there was a kitchen redo. I think they were going for an 'international kitchy' look. Sometimes I leave the TV muted when I watch, because I am just that sort of person. I'm like that in life too. I really don't care much what someone says, but I certainly do notice what someone does. Anyway. On this show they were replacing the knobs on the cabinets, and on one set of cabinets in place of the knobs they hot glued an old pair of wooden shoes! The kind that I have hanging in the picture in the post below. I think I paid a quarter for it. I'm sure I could scrounge up some more in this mecca of all things Dutch, but, I just recently saw an old pair with THGGM's name burnt on them.
We have new hardware on order. The brushed nickel bars. They will arrive soon. I have a plan to find those wooden shoes and glue them up, as if I really mean it. It would surprise no one that I would do something that odd. Except for THGGM. He would be truly horrified, which of course just feeds my want to do it.
If you are wondering, 'Doesn't THGGY read your blog?' Read? No. No. A thousand times no! He looks at the pictures. And, I did not put a picture with this post. I'm smarter than I look.

OH! OH! OH! Another kindred spirit thing we share! I do the same thing with HGTV...and I usually have it muted too, haha! Or at least very low volume. And I saw that particular episode on "Decorating Cents" and was inspired as well. Our kitchen is BEYOND help -- almost -- and we're planning on doing a re-do when I'm on hiatus once Cooper arrives. I have about a 2-month break and we're planning on ripping the vinyl cupboard door coverings off and painting with enamel paint. I saw an episode of "Divine Design" I think it was where an old chip-board bar was stripped down, then given 3 coats of enamel paint and the counter was redone with stick-on tiles. It turned out great!!! And I'm hoping it'll do the same for our kitchen. Weren't those little wood shoe door handles adorable?!? That was a great episode, and I loved the results.
...and funnier too!
ROFLOL Judy! I just love your sense of humor. My hubby doesn't read my blog either and since I rarely post pictures, mostly because I'm too lazy, there are no pictures to look at either.
