Red

It's been an interesting week.
But, yesterday I managed to work in some fun!
One of my sister's came to town. We went together to visit my dad, and also to visit all the fun places in the hospital, like the upscale gift shop and the great coffee bar.
Really. Blodgett hospital is a nice place to visit.
My dad is improving. I am SO thankful.
From there my sister and I hit our favorite Wyoming restaurant, Hunan. This is something we used to do every week in the summer, but lately life has gotten complicated, and last summer I think we only made it there once.
Next it was off to our favorite thrift stores. I'm happy to report that I found everything I didn't even know I was looking for.
Best find? I would have to say it's the two Kitchen-aide pans. Red.
The worst part of the day was discovering that my cat, whom we have had for over a decade, is COVERED in fleas. He has NEVER had even one flea before this.
So, I spent the evening trying to discover a non-chemical way to remove every single one of those horrible dastardly bugs. Uncle Barb is old and diabetic so that eliminates hauling out the big guns. I see a bath with lemon juice in his near future, and eucalyptus leaves scattered across his favorite sleeping places. If it doesn't have to be fresh lemon juice or new eucalyptus leaves, I can get started on this right away.
Although, this was NOT in my plans.
I see red.

They sell flea combs that work pretty well. We have plastic ones that weren't expensive. You basically comb the fleas out and put the comb in hot soapy water when it has fleas on it. It is difficult with a cat, but if you can find where they usually sleep (our cats change all the time) you should vacuum that area at least a couple of times a day. Good luck, because fleas are terrible. Been there, done that.

We had a HORRIBLE flea infestation last summer with Chloe dog in the house, and what was really awful is Dylan is allergic to them so any bites - and he was covered at one point! - were painful, itched terribly, and scarred up his legs. We had to rely on Frontline and also had to flea-bomb the house. In fact, getting rid of the fleas was almost as much work as getting rid of head lice back when my daughter was a 1st grader and had waist-length hair at that point. Arggghhhh! A great website for getting Frontline without a vet's prescription is:

www.petcarerx.com

My best friend Lizzee recommended it to me. It's almost half-price compared to buying it thru a vet.

Oh, and I LOVE hospital gift shops! I worked in a local hospital for 5 years several years ago and used to buy a lot of Christmas gifts in their gift shop, they had such cool stuff.

As for thrift stores, it's been a few weeks. I'm getting the 'itch' and maybe I can find some time to 'scratch' it on Saturday.

So glad to hear Dad is doing better, Judy...he's in my prayers.

So good to hear that your dad is doing better. And shopping to boot! That's wonderful.

Fleas, on the otherhand. If there are 10 people in my house they still only bite me! I loathe them. And I will have to admit that it's one thing I'm not unhappy about Ann's move...I was definitely not looking forward to the potential infestional nightmare! Lemon juice and euccalytus do what to fleas?
