Fun Times

Sometimes it works out that Jonge and I have the opportunity to do some one-on-one fun stuff when Famke and Kado sleep.
Today was one of those days. I'm sure that Jonge could also use a nap, but then what would I do (kidding!).

Michael's Craft Store has cute Cute CUTE wooden things spread all throughout the store. I found this rat thingy on sale for 99 cents. It came with some paint, but that looked a bit dried out. They also had acrylic paint on sale last week 3 for $1.00 so we used those instead.

Jonge gets VERY intense when he is working on a project. I try very Very VERY hard to stay in the back ground and just let him have at it.
I was feeling very pleased about his choice of color. Robins Egg Blue. Lovely.

Oh! And Christmas Red. Perfect with the Robins Egg Blue, don't you think?
I thought so too.
But remember the FUN of mixing colors?
Remember me, in the back ground?

I also bought Chocolate Brown.
And, this is the rat! Zac the rat. I think he is adorable.

we do a lot of that kind of painting around here too with the grandkids. The paint is so cheap and you can find neat wooden things...they love being creative don't they? We've done a lot of the $1 birdhouses that you can find...they usually last a season hanging up outside...I have a "special" table cloth I cover my kitchen table with when the paints come out...but just the other day we took it all outside on a table under the tree...and some neighbor kids joined us. They each painted a birdhouse and then I had some leftover backpack things from the reunion, and they stamped their handprints on them. I did insist they run home and ask permission from mom first, and I provided old T-shirts for them to wear. I see your grandson is shirtless! LOL (Some day I'm going to be as artistic as you with my photos! LOVE them!)

One-on-one time is a rare thing around here, too, but once Dylan begins preschool in September Cooper and I will have 3 hours 3 days per week of time alone. I LOVE this idea of painting wooden creatures/animals!! I am now inspired to go to our Michael's store and see what I can come up with, too, as I'm sure both Dylan and Cooper would love something like this. With our Little Tikes picnic table here in the house now, it'd be perfect for crafts, too. I am just SO not crafty, Judy. I love it when you post ideas such as these...inspires me like you can't believe! Between your 'indoor' ideas and my outdoor endeavors, my two are two very busy guys. We walked all the way to the library and back yesterday without a double stroller...just a single one in case anyone got too tired to walk. It took us THREE hours to walk the 4 miles but the boys loved it, especially the break along the way where we sat on the curb and ate Goldfish Crackers and had a bottle of water.

How are those children ever going to be able to go to school with such a cool grandma!
Actually, they will be miles ahead of the others with all you have taught them...what a blessing you are!
