Dressing Up An Old Lamp

Add a new finial to an old lamp!

I saw this idea in an old issue of Home Companion. The one with the lady who added tassels to salt and pepper shakers. She also added small 'Occupied Japan' figures to lamps as finials. The idea has stuck with me for years.

I'm trying to determine whether or not I like my new 'thrifted' sailboat valences.

The finial barely shows up in this picture, but it IS there.

I realized that what REALLY makes this room work is that our neighbors right next door have a light blue house with dark blue shutters. They also have a red pick-up truck. So, the color scheme still works, even when the shades are up!

Such a little thrill. But that's what I'm all about.

(which is a good thing)

If I come to visit, can I sleep in that room?! Judy, that is SO lovely! And I think the valance goes perfectly. Don't change a thing!!! And I especially love the little rocking chair.
