Great Nephews Third Birthday

Today we ventured 45 minutes north to my sister and brother-in-law's lovely home to celebrate Great-Nephew's Third Birthday!

Yum!  The food was fantastic.  My sister makes the BEST home made pizza.

Feintjse LOVED the crust, the frosting on the cupcakes, and the home made ice cream.
Flirting with my niece, who drove all the way from Indiana to attend the party was just as delightful to Feintje.  Have I mentioned lately that I'm related to the nicest people?
My inside pictures didn't come out very well.
So, no pictures of blowing out the candles, singing "Happy Birthday to You", or the opening of the presents.

But that all happened and was fun Fun FUN!

Then we moved outside for the whacking of the birthday pinata!
In between the whacking of the pinata, Great-Nephew received his gift from his grandparents.

A blue Ford.  Great-Nephew knows his cars.  It's always been the blue Ford that he wanted.

He was very excited about it.

Jonge, Famke, Kado, and Feintjse got one just like it for Christmas last year from one of The Daddy's sisters.  They LOVE it.

So they were MUCH more excited about the candy!

Famke and Kado put on their shy demeanors when it came to whacking the pinata, but that all faded away when candy came falling down from the sky!
So nice to have family surround you on your birthday!

Even the one-armed grandpa was able to participate.  He had complicated surgery on his shoulder two weeks ago and is still recovering.
It was obvious that Great-Nephew enjoyed ALL of the festivities of the day.

And he looked SO grown-up!
Pretty Good Nephew was heard commenting that he had always wanted a car like that but had never ever gotten one.

As a man a doctoral thesis away from a PhD in philosophy, don't you just wonder what he is thinking here?
No one has to wonder about these two.

These brother-in-laws are sure to be discussing which flavor tootsie roll is their favorite, and reminiscing about the days when they only came in chocolate.
Meanwhile, Great-Nephew works on his pick-up lines,

"Where've you been all my life?"

"What?  We've been friends since the day you were born!"
and travels around the land picking up beautiful girls.
The boy does have beautiful cousins!
For Jonge, it's still all about the candy.

And the "goody bags".

Famke too.

She had her nails done special for the occasion!
Noticing the empty car, Pretty Good Nephew makes his move.

He was last spotted traveling north on Spruce towards Grant, still with the sucker in his mouth.
