Home Alone Thursday

Zeke sulks on the days the grand kids do not come over.
When they are here he insists on placing himself into the center of all the activity.  Even diaper changes become difficult as there is a dog continually trying to come between me and a child.
It is funny though when he runs inside to grab HIS toys and throws them all around the backyard.
But today?  He would not give me the time of day (not that he KNOWS the time of day - but, you know...).
When I'm not involved in things grand kids or domestic, I'm still thrift shopping.  But now with an eye towards things to sell.

But then I get them home and actually LIKE them myself.

Would you buy this for $12.00?
What about this lovely piece of pottery?

For $12.00?

Of course, if it does not sell, I like it very much on the top of my refrigerator.
I do not understand why hand stitched pieces like this one sell for only a dollar.  It now covers the base of my blender with an inverted protein powder container on top of the base.

Can you imagine how long it must have taken someone to stitch this?  I can.  So for a dollar, it is mine.
Famke, Kado and I made a different style butterfly yesterday.  It's from those amazing cardboard books that Michael's Craft Store sells for cheap.

We covered them with scrapbook paper scraps.

Their's have a magnet.  Mine doesn't yet, as it still needs a bit of work.
And remember those scrapbook paper covered soup cans that I wasn't sure what I was going to do with?

Isn't this cute just topped with a jello mold and a glass marble?

Sort of looks like a miniature silo.

I also found the red and white gingham tape in the clearance aisle at Michael's.

Cutes up the empty pill bottles!
At night I've been reading "Women of Words" which I found at a thrift store on Saturday.

I'm familiar with most of the authors, but it's still an interesting read.  Just what I was looking for, but didn't know it.

Last week I had this FABULOUS idea that I could empty out a mascara tube and use it with a small amount of paint for spatter painting.  Do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT try this at home.  There is absolutely no way on the face of this earth to remove all of the mascara from the tube.  I know this because I have tried EVERYTHING.  FOR OVER A WEEK.  One night I even glanced over at the clock to notice that it was nearly 1:00 AM and I am swishing a variety of different substances in the tube because I am determined NOT TO LOSE.

I lost.  But, you know me, I still cannot throw it away - because someone - somewhere - might know how to do it.

My latest dumb idea I've been working on all day.  If it comes out even a smidge better than the mascara tube fiasco I just might show you.

But I am working on a migraine, so maybe not.

Dear Judy,
Do you have a water pick? That might work. What about using duct tape to tape it to the rack in the dish washer? Things like that drive me crazy too.
I wish we lived closer. As it is, I appreciate your kindred spirit, no matter where it resides.
Best of luck with the mascara tube!

I have no mascara, empty or otherwise, so I am safe from fiasco.

Your dog is an absolute hoot.

I love, love, love the pottery with the blueberries - but no, I probably wouldn't pay twelve dollars. :)

Love your rooster cover! I'm always amazed at the handwork I find for practically nothing. At least we can take it home and appreciate it!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
