"We had mighty good weather as a general thing, and nothing ever happened to us at all." - Mark Twain
Well there's a quote that pretty much sums it up! And I wouldn't want it any other way.
Note the absence of any grandchild pictures? It's not due from lack of TAKING pictures. No. I accidentally deleted two entire days worth last night. Ugh. Sometimes I even surprise myself at how not very smart I can be.
Anyway...
Who reads my blog anymore? I'm not even sure. Feel free to comment or shoot me an e-mail so I know just who exactly I'm boring to tears.
One of the more exciting things that has happened around here lately is the addition of a new coffee maker that THGGM received for being at his job for ten years. TEN YEARS? I still think of it as his new job and can never remember who is who at his work place. But, he is now the proud owner of a Keurig. I really like it. My only complaint is that neither of my two polka dot mugs fit under it. I suppose I'm the only one who finds that bit of information of any note at all, but it does cause me a wee bit of sadness in that corner of my heart reserved for such mundane things.
And besides really good coffee, I'm also now addicted to watching "The Big Bang Theory". There is no telling as to why. It could be that one of the guys reminds me of a former boy friend or that I see a bit of Sheldon in one of the grandsons. Or maybe it's just that on those evenings when I'm too tired to hold a book, magazine, or crochet hook and yarn to my face I can just sit down and laugh. Also, HGTV isn't meeting my needs anymore (HGTV - Home and Garden TV, silly. Not THGGM - he's still good). So there you have it. I blame my sister, who just happened to mentioned The Big Bang Theory in passing one day and me being me had to go home and tune in. If you are interested, I could even sing you the theme song.
See that picture above? I've been busy in my yard. When we moved here almost five years ago there was a tree with a dead branch. Every year since another branch has stopped leafing. I wanted the tree removed before the fence went up, but I don't always get my way. So, I've taken it upon myself to remove at least the dead parts. And look! One very large branch is down. I did it with THGGM's miter saw. It worked very well. It may take me all summer to do, but I am nothing if not determined.
The past two weeks have been extremely pain filled for me. For years if not decades now I've had this awful problem with pains that flit about my body from place to place landing for only a debilitating day or two and then skipping off to another place for a day or two. In April it started in my left arm. Two days later it was gone and I had a painful lump on my right foot. From there it slunk on over to my right leg leaving me unable to walk Saturday night. When I woke up Sunday morning I could walk, but now I have a lump on my left thumb. Have I told my doctor about this? Yes. He doesn't know what it is either.
Speaking of doctors, THGGM went to see one of his this morning. Everything at that appointment came out well. Tomorrow he goes to see an oncology surgeon about that spot that was found on his liver last year. In the most recent scan it appears to have grown. With this doctor he will figure out what the next step will be, liver biospy or more 'wait and see'.
Have I asked before if anyone of you has read Will and Ariel Durant's "History of Civilization"? I'm working my way through the volume at the time of Louis XIV. Seriously I thought that it would put me right to sleep, since I now only read at night, but that has not been the case at all. And, now I have something NEW to collect as I'm going to want all of the other volumes as well.
It's been awhile since I've update my Simply Thrift blog, although not for lack of thrifting. Somethings just seem more picture-worthy than others, and lately I've been finding great stuff for the grand kids to play with in the back yard. Over the weekend I found a cute bowling set that kept them busy on Saturday. I COULD have showed you pictures of THAT, but those were among the pictures I mistakenly deleted. They made a 'lane' out of fence post pieces which made the game even more fun. Oh, and I also found a bunch of plastic 'cowboys and indians'. Those seemed to get along nicely with the dinosaurs I've been thrifting for years. Plastic toy history is somewhat as interesting as real history in that much can be learned from it and it tends to repeat itself.
So there you go. That's what's new here.

I read here regularly. I actually find you highly entertaining--maybe because we seem to have similar senses of humor?:-)
I am here too. I love reading your blog. I sure hope your husband gets good news at the doctors. Keep us informed. Enjoy those grandkids.
I very much enjoy your blog. And I like you love The Big Bang Theory! I love the humor. Sometimes I am the only on who gets me -so I can so relate to some of the characters. I will be praying that your pain will go away and that the news from the Dr. concerning your husband is good news.
Have a wonderful day! Lisa :o)
I read your blog regularly, gosh time flys, I've been reading since before you moved. I can relate and you make me laugh : ) I do hope your husband gets good news at his appt, and that your pains subsides. I have problems with pain too, have been to many doctors, have no diagnosis but still have pain. Anti depressant meds help a lot.
me...........me.........me....you remind me of me..........
must be because we are cousins.....
it's in the genes....

I'm not even going to TELL you that I come by regularly.
With that said, could it be fibromyalgia that you're plagued with? Lupus?
THGGY is regularly in my prayers. But you know that too.
Love you, Judy.
Ah judy. You I have read since I first heard that strange word:"blog". I love you, but I'm not fond of you being in pain, or your husbands spotty liver. Sheesh.
You know I am reading your blog, I am that anonymous to others DM. I wish your pains disappear on their own, but it would be nice if they were at least identified. Sometimes I have very painfull places on my head or face, I can not even touch lightly a hair or two, but can put my hand firmly on that place. It is weird, but we thank it is due to my head getting undercooled for more then half an hour some very stormy (horizontal! gushes) icecold rainy day at an unprotected busstop, it is mostly trickered by draught or an airco blowing at me.I wish your husband gets good news allover, I have had that biopsy in 1980 and that on itself is nothing to be afraid of, local anaesthasia and a bit discomfort. Next branch on the tree: start sawing upwards for an inch or so, then downwards, it saves the branch from tiering off into the trunk, but I think you know that by watching the house and garden items.
Well, that's a LOT of "new"! All w/o pics of grandchildren, too.
Glad your hubbies' tests came back good, and sorry about your pains. My right shoulder-blade pain moved left-ward. It's a dull pain but must trigger the very SHARP pain in my left elbow. The heating pad probably isn't the best treatment, but it helps - temporarily at least.
(But who wants to talk about - I mean "HEAR about" - another person's pain?)
I'll be watching your Simply Thrift blog....I've had a couple of fun "finds" lately...
I also have books piling up to be read. I need to schedule myself more carefully to catch up.
See! You don't bore me!
I'm still reading - and you are never boring! And I recently discovered Big Bang Theory too - and it never fails to make me laugh!
I still read your blog, Judy. You still make me laugh after all of these years :) Although, with Facebook now, I tend to read it in chunks instead of daily. I'm so happy to hear your hubby's good report from the doctor. I hope you can figure out the mysterious migrating lump thing on yourself! I would suggest Fibromyalgia, but I've never heard of it being "lumpy".
