Simple Pleasures

Today I spent maybe, at the most, twenty minutes in my favorite thrift store.  I found everything I wanted in the first two minutes.

Two LOVELY music books from which I can actually play.

Look at the songs in THIS one!

I am beyond thrilled.

THGGM is on vacation this week.  It relaxes him to lay in the sun on a hot windy beach.  That makes me get a migraine.  So, while he recovers from oral surgery at the beach, I am lazing away my afternoon playing "I Don't Want to Live On the Moon" and "Won't You Be My Neighbor?".
This one is great too!

I just LOVE the Reader's Digest Songbooks.  They have chords.  I like music that provides one with the chords.
Just look at the songs listed here!

Are you as impressed as I am?

Oh, my.

Not that I was around for much of the 50's, but I am familiar with almost every song on this list.  Even if only because I or my friends had wind up jewelry boxes that played some of these, or, my mom always sang around the house so some of these I hear in her voice (i like that now, i didn't when she was doing it!).

My piano is seriously out of tune and my playing is undeniable lousy, and I can only sing alto BUT!, I'm not letting that stop me from playing my heart out!

Sigh.

Tom Dooley, I sing out of tune, out of rhytm and as false as can be, am always asked to not sing in company or makeshift choirs, but I could howl along with that one. Today it is easy, I am the best singer in my own car, driving all alone, grin.
I might not know one or two on that list, but oh, such memories. With some of them I seem to know exactly when I heard them first and more importantly, where. Such finds at thrifts are real treasures. D M

Play on! Sure wish I were there on the piano bench beside you.
