Kado

My sister and her grandson came with birthday cupcakes in honor of Kado's third birthday.  She is a thoughtful and excellent gift giver, and knew exactly what Kado would like!  It's a touch crazy at times with six kids in the house, but I can honestly say that a GOOD time was had by all.  Even the two 50 something grandmas who prefer book reading and quiet.

Kado! Happy birthday. It was the header with Kado on it many moons back that hooked me on your blog.
Famke is so, so sibling-like in pointing out that well, perhaps Kado does have something relatively similar...as though then it would pass to someone else?! Crack me up!
Just last weekend my daughter received a a card with money inside from her long distance Grandma, who gave it to her in person. She looked at it, then at Grandma and said, "Oh, I thought you said you were bringing me a PRESENT." Sister quickly redeemed the scene by interjecting, "Ah, see, now you can get whatever you like. The money is like a present!"
Gotta love the big sister. :-)

Is it just me or does Kado seem older then 3 years old? Such a sweet boy. Do you rent him out to grandma's like me who no longer have any small grands?

Belated, but Kado, I hope you had a nice birthday, surely looks like it, and congratulations. And like pat above, rented grandkids, great idea, I have none and always shout: I borrow them from ny neighbours. It works, somehow, a little bit. When you are walking with the grandchildren, do you do the: guess what plant this is? game. You see, they have the right age now, Jonge and Famke and the little ones will be competative and guess with them. When they grow older, they do not have the patience anymore to do this. Besides, it helps to know how an oaktree looks when they have to gather "at the big oaktree near the entrance". A teacher over here was very amazed only part of the teenagers turned up at the right tree and how much discussion there was about how to recognise an oak! Surely, they were townschildren, but really, to know every carbrand but not one so important tree at the age of 13 is beyond my world. Have a nice summer with your family, especialy the grandchildren and the other granny and grandkid. DM
