Backyard Fun in the Sun
It was a perfectly HOT day for playing in the pool yesterday.
For the grandma's I created an awning by putting a quilt over head attached to two clothes lines. It worked. We could keep the babies and ourselves out of the sun, yet still could catch a breeze - when there was one to be caught.
And when it's 90 and sunny, nobody minds getting wet.
Not even me.
Feintsje is still teething - full time. Medicine and chewing on ice helped him. He especially loved chewing on ice.
Hertsje's first tooth came through. She would not like to show it to you though. She was happy all day long.
The only reason she does not look happy in this picture is that she wants the camera.
Notice the blur in the picture below? That happens when babies slathered in sunblock touch the camera lens.
But I posted the picture anyway, as you can still see the looks of anticipation on the children's faces waiting for the "big splash" from Jonge's jump.
Famke's brown eye and brown curls - so cute.
Kado slept through almost all of this backyard fun, which is why he does not appear in any of these pictures. How he sleeps through all the noise is beyond me. The bed he sleeps in is right under the window that looks out at the pool. All I can figure is that the boy must be REALLY tired!
Somebody has just started taking steps on his own.
He thinks he's something.
I wish he wouldn't be in such a hurry to grow up.
Pake is getting out of work at 3:30 this week. I like that. So does he. More time for backyard fun in the sun.

I was kind of wanting to see the Grandmas' Canopy.....
I will second that, would have loved to see your shade. Wonderful pictures as always.
Me too! I wanted to see your shade. You are such a handy person.
I told my kids when I was little we made 'tents' over the clothes line and played in there for hours. We ate Nilla wafers and ran in the sprinklers. All summer. Of course there was all those great neighborhood games too. But it was generated by us, the children, not supervised and overly structured. Not funded by a grant, or overly regulated.
Kids nowdays could learn a thing or two about how to play.
Looks like your grands are on the right track!
I would say 'stay cool', but that's a given...you ARE cool!
So take extra good care,
Jen
There just too much fun happening at your place.
Can I come over? I'll bring the coffee.
