Happy Valentines Day!
A red plaid lunch tin!
I was SO very surprised this morning to wake up and find a gift waiting in the living room for me.
And I must tell you what a surprise it was, as I was NOT expecting this!
Over the weekend I came out of hibernation. It felt extremely good to get out and do some birthday shopping, go to Hertsje's 1st birthday party, hit our favorite thrift store, and antique shop at three different places (although all in the same old factory).
I'm sure many people think that when spouses share the same interests like we do with antique shopping, that we stroll hand in hand through the myriad of booths oohing and ahhing over every interesting what-not we come across. That is very much NOT the case with us. THGGM is a fast shopper who scans the venue always with an eye towards furniture. I wouldn't notice the furniture unless it fell on me, which would not be all that uncommon of an occurrence in my little world. No. I scan each booth determinedly waiting to see what jumps out at me. And something always does.
The piece above? I found it in a locked case (normally i don't even glance into locked cases, since as a rule it means pricey and i am notoriously cheap). But this piece caught my eye. For quite some time now I've had a small yellow plaid tin which also has the Ohio Art marking on it. That one had been repaired. One handle is smaller than the other, where it was nicely reattached. I find it sweet that someone cared enough about a lunch tin to fix it. On THIS piece, the condition was great, but the price reflected it. But I liked it enough to find THGGM and send him over to look at it. My birthday IS coming up, you know. In June.
Anyway, lasterday THGGM did not come straight home from work. That is unusual, especially when there are a 1/4 dozen grandkids waiting to be snuggled. I was a bit miffed, but he did bring food which will ingratiate me to anyone.
But now I know where he went. And I am grateful.
He's a good man, and I hear that a good man is hard to find.
