Isn't this a pretty picture? I don't think that I've ever seen my sister's house in the snow! At least not this much!
Just in the last month or two my brother-in-law began building a pole barn. So after our dinner (but before pie!) some of us hardier folk trudged through the snow to see it. It is AMAZING!
Great-nephew was so excited to show us how he can drive his Ford in the pole barn. It is astounding to me that at just four years old he can follow his grandpa's directions of "turn left", "now turn right", now back-up just a little bit". I still don't know my right from left without looking at my wedding ring, and he doesn't even have one!
Anyway, Famke had a great time being driven around, and later Kado and Feintsje had turns too.
And I just LOVE this picture of Daughter leading the troops back to the house for pie!
Kado has been waiting for snow for the longest time! He wants to build snowmen and make snow angels.
I just want to walk around in the snow taking pictures. Especially of people wearing red winter coats, because they show up so well!
This year is going to have to be the year I actually buy myself a pair of boots.
After this, we had pie! I do not have any pictures of that. You will have to trust me, the pies were delicious! We had apple, rhubarb, pumpkin, and pecan. No one left hungry. No one.

Beautiful pictures!! That is an adorable one of daughter and her ducklings : ) I love snow and bare trees, kind of heavenly.

OK I googled pole barn, sounds quick and easy umtil you really built one, I guess, but faster than bricks or wood ones. Maybe you were told to shake hands with your "good" hand instead of your right hand, as we do nowadays, so you are excused for not knowing immediately, the little boy has been taught right and left from the craddle, so he should know at 4, backing up is just too much fun to not remember quickly. Snow, I hope it stays away this winter, nice, clear frost, no wind and the iceskate ring, on which my husband is almost fulltime next to his job will be mirrorlike and wonderfull to skate on. But that snow does look PPP;-)DM
Where did that snow fall?
Thankfully, we didn't encounter it in our holiday travel. I like to look at it--not drive in/on it.
