Last night was our family's annual St. Nicholas party. The adults exchanged gift baskets filled with fun stuff to enjoy from now until Christmas. The kids got a gift basket also. It was fun. Again, I took a bunch of pictures that still need to be sorted out. Our dinner this year was a taco bar. I think we shall be doing that again. It was WONDERFUL.

Taco bar - great idea!
Great idea. For years, I filled my kids shoes with treats on St. Nicholas day. I'd love to start a new tradition.
Looks like fun to me too. Used to Dutch Saint Nicolaus parties with extended family, now it is just the four of us plus Liefje (Sweetie) the Malteser dog. Just to let you know, lots of dogs and cats are having a small treat at the 5th too, like a nice bone, a tin of dinnerfood if they are on dry meals only or a small toy. If you have small children, mostly they want the dog too have a present too and it takes only a small piece of festive paper to wrap what they would have had anyway. To Karen above what about writing a small poem, wherein eye rhymes with my or rey, just a funny five or six sentences rhyme acompanied with a small gift placed where the growing up familymember can find it. F.i. an envelope with money in it, but upgraded with pictures of the singer they are a fan of or the plaything for their computer, even if it is only a contribution to the piggybank to buy it. It tells them you are aware of their wishes and wants, add to it theu=ir favourite chocolate and you have your new tradition, I understand the "big" presents are attended too by the jolly fat man, Saint Nicolaus nephew Santa Claus.DM
