Simple Bread

Hertsje asked for a snack this morning, and since we didn't have much, I asked her if she would like a slice of bread.  She said "Of course I would!'.  So I hauled out the loaf we purchased over the weekend at a bakery in Lake Geneva. The loaf looked very much like half of a basketball.  As I sawed into it, I heard an inquisitive voice behind me say, "Beppe, are you SURE that's bread?"
