Perfect Way to Spend a Saturday Afternoon

Two books we ordered this week came today.
THGGM grabbed the other one, so I had this one to thumb through between less than successful attempts at hand sewing (see below).
LOVE this book. LOVE IT. As much as I did the first one, which I always keep in reach.
So, THGGM and I took to our places on the breeze way. It was lovely. A damp gentle breeze, birds tweeting, faint traffic sounds, good coffee.., it was all lovely.
THGGM was enjoying his book so much that he kept reading portions of it to me.
I love that. Being read to. It's been a loooong time since someone has read to me.

Have You Bought This Magazine Yet?

Oh, my!
I am really LOVING this. It's one of those special interest magazines, but I'm dreaming that it turns into a magazine of it's own.
So many ideas in this one, using things I already have. I really wasn't a fan of the cover photo, but nearly everything inside got me all weak-kneed and swoony.
Okay. I'm always weak-kneed. But, it does take something really good to make me swoony.

I seriously want THGGM to turn our backyard shed into a cute little playhouse. For the grand kids (shhh. and for me).

And, doilies! I do love doilies.
I've spent hours and hours pouring through this magazine. This may be why I haven't been reading much lately. I'm gathering ideas.
See that cute little aqua egg I'm using in the pictures to hold the page down?
Cracker Barrel has these in many lovely spring colors. For only $1.99.
Since I've already had my ONE Cadbury Caramel egg for the year, I'm trying to tell myself that these are just as good. And totally inedible. No carbs.
Seriously. I wanted to give up diabetes for Lent, but it's not an option.

My NEW Book

Although it is my habit to purchase nearly everything at a deeply discounted sale price, with a coupon, or at the thrift store or antique mall - I find that SOMETIMES there are exceptions to be made.

This book, The Vintage Table, was one such exception.

I've yet to read a page from it, but I have been pouring over the pictures.

Today was one of those days where almost every place in my body hurt. I spent most of the morning curled up under my favorite quilt with hot coffee and THIS book.
I think my FAVORITE picture is the one of the asparagus and flowers.
FINALLY. Someone has discovered something that asparagus is GOOD for.
I am only a 'social' asparagus eater.
Anyway...
Books like this are always fun for me. Vintage things by their very nature can't really go out of style. They only seem to become even MORE vintage-y with time.
And that, my friend, is a good investment.
