Miss Bear and Her Expensive Sweater

I thought I would post a picture of the bear sweater I made quite by accident this morning.

At one of my thrift store trips Saturday, women's clothing was buy one, get TWO free. I found a three piece outfit for my mom and a shirt for myself. I couldn't find anything else, even for free. So, I just dug around looking for anything 100% wool that I could felt. I found this xs sweater in 100% lambs wool, with great rhinestone buttons.

Anyway...I cut the sleaves off to make stockings and the body off to make a pillow (to display the polymer pins i made). That left me with the sleaves and collar.

Hmmm...I thought. What could I do with this? Then I remembered the bears I had just put away after Christmas.

Miss Bear was delighted with her new lambs wool sweater with rhinestone buttons. And the truth is, I didn't do one single thing to it. It is on her just as it was left after I cut it apart!

As an added bonus, last night Daughter told me that she has a friend who has this sweater. She paid about $85 for it.

That just makes me love it all the more!

p.s. - I found the little rocker for four dollars at a thrift store

Can you explain what felting is etc? Have heard of it, but not sure just what kind of craft you are into there...

You are very creative...cute bear, sweater, rocker!

I bought the sweater and washed it in very hot water. twice. Then I dried it in the dryer. What this does is compress the wool so much that it does not fray. The little sweater you see here is just cut, no sewing involved.

I made a few cute Christmas pins this year, but mostly I made them a bit to large and as Daughter likes to point out, they look like fancy nursing pads.

Oh, and I could send 'dust' to anybody who wants it. I've got a lot of that. That's how THIS crafty person finds the time...somemthing's got to give.
