No, these are not nicknames for the baby. Oldest Son, whom we have always called "Buddy" had his name interpretted "Cuddly" by Daughter-in-law's young cousin. Of course, in our family, you just can't let something like that slip by unused. Cuddly he remains. Button came about the weekend after we heard about Cuddly. Oldest Son was visiting and we all piled into the car to go out for breakfast. THGGM needed to put some of his travel paraphenalia into the trunk. From the back of the car he yelled, "Could you push the trunk....(long pause, which is just how he talks)...button? Of course, Youngest Son was in the front seat, and it sounded as if he was being called "Button" by his father, well, who could let THAT sail past unused? So, there you have it. The story of "Button" and "Cuddly" and how they came to be.
This replaces the names they had given themselves as children. They always refered to their sister as "The Little Princess" and themselves as two characters from their Richard Scary books, "Lowly Worm" and "Peasant Pig".
