Teeny, Tiny, Pint-sized Weekend

Hello.

What did YOU do today?

I had a stomach ache. I could line up my complaints on a shelf lately, and pick a different one each day, while the rest quiver with glee, knowing that their day will come.

My stomach aches in a weird way. I believe I have been taking too much asprin, trying to stave off migraines. I'm going to have to stop that.

On the home front, two strong and able bodied men moved two heavy pieces of furniture for me this weekend. This made me happy. Now I have to move around loads of books. But I don't mind. I love books.

Saturday I went to four different thrift stores. I was looking for size 12 month clothes for Baby Boy who is seven weeks old. I found two. Daughter went on her own, and she found four outfits. So, at least he will have something to wear this week!

The Husband God Gave Me found a suit at one of the thrift stores. He has an interview within the company this week. He is excited about this. I was excited because this thrift store had a 'buy one get two free' clothes deal going on. I found one shirt and a lambswool sweater which I have already felted. One more thing to add it my pile of stuff to do, someday.

My friendly neighborhood thrift store had added two more large book shelves. It looked like someone had donated a library. I got four great books. A secondary Latin book, one on Logic, a 1940's Reader's Digest compilation with an introduction by Theodore Roosevelt and the children's book "Good Night, Mr. Tom" which is one of my favorites. I won't be happy until everyone in my family has read this book and shed tears.

Since THGGM wasn't around for Valentine's Day, we went out for dinner Saturday evening. He believes that I tricked him into going to a restaurant near a grocery store. Really, he greatly overestimates me. I hate to grocery shop, and it did help to have him around. But, I didn't plan it.

I am not a good shopper. I get overwhelmed with all of the choices. All I wanted was a PLAIN brownie mix. I couldn't find one. As I was about to go insane, THGGM who is a fantastic shopper, came to my rescue and found one for me. He's a peach.

I'm getting a lot of use out of my seven quart crock pot. Everyone should get one of these. I was thrilled to purchase plastic liners for it, but the day after I bought them, my friend Anne sent me a report from Johns Hopkins about the horrors of heating food in plastic. So, I will have to stick with the soak and scrub method.

And, since THGGM wasn't around for Valentine's Day, I made hot fudge brownies for dessert. I memorized the recipe for the hot fudge from Martha Stewart this week. I think it went over okay.

Tonight I am watching Ice Dancing on the Olympics. I've seen enough horrible falls to last me four years, at least. I once fell ice skating in high school, and got an enormous bruise on my hip. It looked like a small pepperoni pizza, and I was quite the celebrity showing off my bruise in gym class. So, I whenced when they fell. I remember the feeling. That gets me to thinking, do high schools still have skating rinks out back? It was my favorite part of gym class in the winter. But, my fall happened in the evening, when my friends and I went back to skate under the lights at night. I remember that we skated there and back too. Wasn't there salt then? Hmmm.

Could there possibly be anything less interesting than Curling? If there is, I don't know what it is. That is, besides this post.

The weekends go by too fast. THGGM gets home on Friday night, and leaves again at 5 on Sunday. That's not much of a weekend. No. I'm getting tired of this. Six more weeks to go. I'm pinning a lot of hope that all my troubles will melt away once he is back home. But then I'm reminded that I was pretty much a nut job before he left.

Awwww...you aren't a nut job...we love you just the way you are!

My weekend was less than wonderful too...some are like that it seems. But life here is so easy compared to the rest of the world so I try to remember that often!

12 month clothes? Heaven's sake, how much does he weigh? My 6 month old is weighing in at 19lbs 3 oz, and he's just NOW into 12 mos clothes!

Sounds like a good weekend, although busy!
