My Old Back Yard Once Held a Well-known Author

This is a picture of THGGM's grandpa with a relative of his. The Western author, Frederick Manfred.

I find it interesting that they are standing in the backyard where we lived for over a decade. And no, THGGM's grandpa is not short. Mr. Manfred was over six and one half feet tall. That height still runs in the family.

My husband had always heard that Mr. Manfred was his mother's cousin, but from the research I was able to do, I believe he was grandpa's Uncle Fred's son, which would make him grandpa's cousin instead.

I have these two books of his. Nobody in THGGM's family ever bothered to read any of his books, so I guess I will have to do it! He has one called "Boy Almighty" which I am interested in ordering from Amazon. His daughter is also a poet and a writer, and she wrote a book in 1999 about her relationship with her father.
