He has been a loyal friend for eight years.
But, while we were on vacation Barb got out. Youngest Son did not realize this, until he came home to find Barb sitting on the front porch.
Barb's voice was hoarse for days. He must have screamed for hours.
He has always HATED to be outside.
Now, we cannot keep him in the house!
I don't know if he found a girl friend (barb is a boy) or a wonderful source of fresh meat, but he does not want to be here anymore.
Those of us who live here are annoyed. Both entries have a screen door which fastens with a hook. There is no latch. All Barb must do is press on the door and he is out. So, I latch the door. This is no fun for the person trying to get in, who cannot.
I feel sad. I could not possibly deal with the loss of another pet.

Oooo..Barb is really giving you the 'eye' isn't he.
I hope he redomesticates really quick.
It's been a little cool lately. When the heat comes, he may change his tune.
You know, you may need to get one of those little "zappy do" collars so if he comes near a door it will give him a bit of a jolt. Or...if some smart electrical person lives nearby, maybe just install a loud clanging bell to go off if he came near the door, or how about something that squirts out water in a big way, knowing how much cats hate water. Seems like the Pavlov's dog experiment might produce some useful ideas for this pet too. So sorry he got out...if they are never outside they do not seem to have the desire do they?
