Thrift Finds

I couldn't resist these two little dolls.

THGGM rolled his eyes. The larger one was $1.49, the small one .69 cents.

I feel for the small one. We have the same hair!

And, I also found these Stampin Up stamps!

They had quite a few of these.

But, these two were ones I've always wanted.

I already have three of the stamps in the one on the right. The girls in the wagon, the girl with the flower and the pot of flowers. But, they came along with the others, so, if you are interested, let me know!

Judy,
I saw your blog. I am looking a set of "stampin' up!" stamps that were recently (the end of may, '06) discontinued. The were in cursive writing...peace...love... blessings... Would you happen to know what the name of the stamp set would be?

Lovely finds!! Those dolls certainly look antique!! And for pocket change too...men cannot be expected to understand some things, dear!!

Thanks, Elizabeth! I really like them. They are dusty, but look like they will be easy to clean up.

Anon. - Thanks for visiting my blog! The "Stampin' Up!" 2006 stamps aren't officially discontinued until June 30. They have the discontinued sets listed on line. Go to www.stampinup.com and click on the right where it says 'promotions'. The entire catalog is on-line now too, so you should be able to find what you are looking for, before it is too late!

I am the Thrift Store Queen! I had the day off from taking care of my grandson on Friday so amongst errands and grocery shopping I managed to stop at a Goodwill nearby. I found the coolest Tiki god that stands about 4' high and is perfect in a back corner of my flower bed in the back yard. I recently found a gate leg table at a Goodwill, too. I am not too proud to stop and knock on someone's door if I see something sitting out on their curb waiting for a charity pick-up or whatever that I like...and I've never had anyone refuse me yet tho they look at me like I'm a bit crazy, haha! I posted a picture a few days ago on my blog of a brass headboard that I got last year and put in my garden, then planted honeysuckle vines to twine up and around it. Just got a couple of sets of BEAUTIFUL high-quality queen-sized sheet sets, too. It is SO MUCH FUN!!! Dear Hubby and I spend a lot of Saturdays going around to our 'favorites', plus stopping at yard or garage sales that hit our eye. Maybe that's the secret to being long-married?!? 32 years for us in a couple of weeks, haha!

I must confess to having been a 'thrift store snob' until 5 years ago when THGGM lost his job of nearly 25 years. I wouldn't go into them. Didn't like the smell. Now, I swoon with delight at the scent of a thrift store.

When my hubby lost his job of nearly 15 years (back in 1994) and went back to school for 18 months to finish another degree is when I really began to relish thrift shops. It is SO FUN to find a treasure for a bit of nothing!!
