Did YOU Ever Make a Really Dumb Suggestion?

My mom and dad stopped over today to see Baby Boy. He and Great Grandpa both have colds, are a bit fussy, and require multiple naps.

There is one thing you need to know about my immediate family.

We like to show off 'boo-boos'.

Well, THGGM isn't as big into this as I am, but I always feel that if I am in pain already, I might as well have something to show for it and clutch the sympathy close to my heart.

Anyway.

Last week while playing beach volleyball with some friends, Daughter got a skinned knee. In our family, we used to call them 'signs of spring' as they seemed to appear on everyone's knee once the bikes came out after winter.

So, trying to make meaningful conversation, I suggested that Daughter show her grandparents her banged up knee.

Oh, how I wish I could take that suggestion back.

Look at the looks of horror on my parent's faces!

And rightly so.

Daughter removed the bandage and revealed what looked like some sort of primordial ooze.

I've learned my lesson.

Well, only sort of. I like to feel the metal plate in Oldest Son's leg. I just will be sure not to ask my parents to feel it.

I'm forty eight. When, oh when will I grow up?!
