I made a quick little trip to the thrift store tonight. I hadn't left the house since Saturday when I took my mom for her mammagram.
Not much new at the thrift store. I found a fairly large bag of wooden pieces for a 'marble run' which should be fun to do with Baby Boy in a few years. Seventy Nine cents for the bag, which also contained random wooden alpabet blocks. I already have a complete marble run, so this should just make it more interesting.
And, in the Christmas decore I found these two Meakin cups! Aren't they wonderful?

Well hello Mrs Addicted to Coffee - I am addicted to black teas...I drink approximately two pots a day. And today I hit the jackpot. Providence dictated that last week when I went to Costco I forget to buy my 300 count Lipton. I don't like to go to Costco often so I just figured I would pay a bit more when I went grocery shopping...but guess what - one of my favorite black teas (and a more reasonably priced tea than some but much more expensive than lipton) was on sale. A fifty count box ten for ten dollars...I bought all ten that were on the shelf...
As to babies and toes - they get ver funny about them sometimes...my oldest used to do things like that. My youngest was sitting in the backseat of the car today pulling her socks off with her teeth...I donno maybe she was too tired as she missed her nap...
I like the drawer the teacup is sitting on.
I will have to photograph my great thrift store purchase last week. I got a number of things (no Wilkins this time) but the best thing was this little chess board for 49cents. It is a little travel board with plastic pegs and a hardwood board...it has checker pegs too - but the coolest thing was the box...the whole set was intact including the instructions. I looked for a copyright and couldn't find one - so I don't know how old it is the best clue so far is that I could order a chess book for thirty cents. I need to go on-line and see what I can find - I am curious as to how old it is. I will try to photog it sometime...
Nice drawers!!
No, I really mean the drawers, not your undies, which aren't even on the picture. Gosh, I guess I should be grateful that you and I aren't hounding the same thrift shops, since you seem to scoop some pretty fabulous stuff!
I so know the joy in that!
I love the teacups. Love them. They have such gorgeous detail.
My mom had a tea set like that, and she sold it at a garage sale for a dollar. We were at a flea market not too long ago and she almost passed out when she saw a set exactly the same as hers was worth a couple hundred bucks.
Those tea cups sure look the same!
me - THGGM just came home all proud of having bought cheap coffee. Bleeeech. I've been adding cinnamon, so hopefully I will not notice. (trying hard not to complain here...) I cannot wait to see photographs of your thrift finds! Your pictures are fantastic!
Joyce - It IS a joy, isn't it? I love white drawers. I do believe that these days they are called 'granny panties' and I own 14 identical pair. Not that you asked, but you did bring it up!
Goslyn - I believe this is a pattern my daughter-in-law mentioned she would like. I've been watching for it, expecting to pay more than 99 cents!
Karla - It is SO hard to know what is worth hanging on to. I've made a few 'mistakes' like that myself. My dad got rid of a hideously 'cool' lamp about 8 years ago. The shade had a picture of a train on it. As the bulb heated the shade it would go around and around.
I have since seen it in a movie, a tv show and twice at antique stores for over well over $100.
My problem is, I like almost everything. Actually...THGGM says HIS problem is that I like almost everything.
Judy-- I share that problem. I like everything. Especially old and mis matched, and looking well used and loved.
I will eventually be brought down by the authorities. Until then, wanna have a tea party?
Joyce - I have an entire room filled with stuff I've collected based on an idea I had, once...can't remember when, or what the idea was...but if and when I ever do, I have a TON of junque to do it with!
Tea would be nice. Your place or mine?
A good trick I taught my mom is to check on ebay before selling anything. You can get a pretty good idea about what stuff is going for.
