Thrift Store Finds

I love this picture!

Middle Age. Ha!

And this Dutch building made for KLM - I'm assuming it held a shot to get one through the flight.

I'm crazy about the tiny crocheted 'tea cup and saucer'.

And, this linen towel! I love the cutwork, and although the picture isn't all that clear, the crocheted edge is teeny tiny and PERFECT.

I cannot resist games with words. I never intend to play this one. I already have an idea for the tiny dice and I hope to use the words on cards or in shadow boxes.

I also found a 'Happy Thanksgiving' bib for Baby Boy and a cute red Baby Gap sleeper.

Four books, too. One for Baby Boy, a mini-watercolor instruction book for me, a book for Oldest Son and "Bride of Fortune" for me - based on the life of Mrs. Jefferson Davis. Looks VERY intersting.

I also found a set of four square 'frames' that stand up in a holder. I'm not exactly sure what they are, but I intend to put pictures in them and use them as coasters. The coasters I have now are woven ones, which Baby Boy feasts upon. I'm sure he believes them to be really stale cookies.

I'm happy with what I found, but the shopping was not relaxing today, at either place. It was busy and loud and filled with annoying people. Really. Thrift store people are a strange lot.

I should know. I'm one of them.

You find the greatest "stuff"!
I love your blog.
I, too, am a thrift store shopper, and love many of the things you love.
I am a grandmother of five little boys, one about your Baby Boy's age.
My mom has Alzheimer's too.
Keep on Bloggin'!

I should know...I'm one of them too! Dear Hubby and I went out to lunch at NoHo's restaurant in the eclectic, funky Clinto neighborhood...the Clinton Street Theatre across the street from it shows "The Rocky "Whatever" Horror Show" -- I can't for the LIFE of me remember the second word at the moment, but I'm hoping you know what film I'm talking about, lol. Brain fart! They show it at MIDNIGHT every night of the week! Then WE went thrift store shopping. I found and adorable Winnie the Pooh hand puppet, plus another puppet of 5 little dragon heads where each finger fits so I can have a "choir" singing to Dylan when I wear it on my hand. Our son came over for a while last nite and Dylan didn't quite know what to make of it, lol! But he knows Grandma's a bit wacko anyway. I found a wooden plaque in the shape of an old glass milk bottle like the milk man used to leave on porches with "5 cents" on it...a Baby Einstein lady bug pull-toy that makes insect noises and music when you push the buttons. Dear Hubby didn't find anything, boo hoo. Ah well...then we came home and cleaned the gutters.

Lovely finds! And thanks for some great ideas...you must lie awake at night thinking them up!! I agree...often, at least in some thrift shops, the other shoppers are so annoying that I leave...but not all...a lot are quiet and lookers like me. My problem is I rarely get to go! Oh well...maybe I don't need any more stuff either...ha!

You did find great stuff...I love the Dutch house and the picture - your junk box is great...

I also think the story you tell with the picture is wonderful...sad but you have the story - it seems fewer people today know their stories or find that they matter to them...

oooh, I have the sinking feeling that you are not going to be a part of my thrift shop withdrawal program. What great stuff!!
thanks for sharing.

I do believe my post above should have included my thrift shopping addiction also.

I am such a tight wad in 'real' stores, I barely spend a penny in those.

In previous posts I've confessed to having been a 'thrift store' snob. I would stay in the car when THGGM would go into them.

Sometimes I would go with my dad, but I chalked it up to his being an old Dutch guy, and I would just watch him with amusement.

Then, THGGM lost his job, and thrift shopping became my passion!

I even 'thrift gift'.
