Randomly She Rolls Along

Yes. It is me again with random thoughts. I'm not exactly sure how many, but at least there should be some.

#1 - I took a bit of a rest from my Will Durant book on philosophy. Last night I picked up a book on myth. Very interesting reading. I had my hands on a book of Spinoza's tonight, but bought a Latin language book instead. Tonight I think I'll just look at pictures in magazines.

#2 - THGGM and I went into a thrift store tonight. We didn't mean too, it just sort of happened. One of my favorite places to look is the 'game' shelf. At first I didn't find anything. Actually, nothing at all in the entire place - which is SOOO not how it usually is for me. But then I got to looking more closely, and found a wonderfully vintage deck of flash cards. This made me very happy, because I am boring and easily pleased. I've already posted about them at http://www.simplythrift.blogspot.com/.

#3- Two nights ago I made the mistake of not refilling a prescription on time. Oh what a night of weird dreams I had. EXTREMELY weird dreams. Last night was not so bad, but I still would have to say I had a very intensely interesting dream. About me and my two sisters. We rented a boat together. On a river with incredible scenery. Each of us had a bag - brightly colored tapestry bags - FULL of things to do. Books (we all read), knitting (none of us knit), all kinds of artsy/craftsy stuff to do, and brochures to all of the wonderful places we wanted to travel to on the boat. All through the dream (it was a loooooong dream) we kept being upgraded to more fabulous accommodations. But, in the end, only the two of them took off in the boat. I stood on a lovely wooden bridge and waved. Both of my sisters took early retirement this summer. I'm sure that had something to do with it.

#4 - My Google Reader is so full of interesting blogs I can no longer read them all on a daily basis. And I keep finding new ones. These blogs are NOT written by boring people. No. Not boring at all. Just so you know, I'm okay with being boring. Most days.

#5 - Does anyone else find it impossible to join things? I haven't been a part of anything in a few years now. Even things I really want to do. EVERYTHING seems overwhelming to me.

#6 - I have two ideas for my book. The first idea is to write the book as I think it should be. But after each chapter I would write how it REALLY was. THGGM likes this idea. Unless, of course, he is in the book. The other idea is to write in the memoir genre. I'm reading A LOT of memoirs presently. I can easily lose myself in those. People are interesting.

#7 - I have been blogging here at Anybody Home for six years now. Six years. I meant to have an anniversary give-away. But I didn't. I've been meaning to do a lot of things lately that just aren't happening. Many good things ARE happening, just not quite as planned.

#8 - August is turning out to be a difficult month for me. I've made it a habit to read the previous years happenings each month, and last August's happenings were not fun. Try as I might, I cannot stop the "what ifs".

#9 - We are out of coffee filters. How random is that? At some point every day this week we have been out of SOMETHING for our coffee. At one point it was actual coffee. The kind we had smelled like wet bathing suits, but I would only remember this when I went to make it so never got around to buying more. Then we did, but were by then out of Truvia - or any other artificial sweetener. Shortly after buying that the Half and Half disappeared (shhh. i added it to the macaroni and cheese.). And now? It's the filters. I have a grocery list sitting right next to me but all it has on it is Mozzarella cheese.

#10 - I'm trying to upload a video as I write this. What IS it with uploading videos? Nine times out of ten they will never appear in my posts. That little flower-petal-looking-thingy has been spinning now for one hour and twenty three minutes. I'm sure this means that a video is NEVER going to appear here. And to quote my mom, "It irks me to no end."

#11 - THGGM moved around a few bookcases over the weekend. I have many new bruises in various and sundry places as proof. He has been going to bed early and I have been trying to sneak around quietly in a dark house. It's not going well. The upside is that he has been getting home earlier this week. Twice he has taken Jonge and Famke to the splash pad and today they all went - even Daughter and Kado.

#12 - I've got an idea for a new blog. Not really, but it's a fun thought. I'd call it "The REAL Grandchildren of Anybody Home" and I'd post those pictures and videos that I skip over in my picture folders while looking for the really cute and charming ones. But, that doesn't seem likely, as I am now sure that the video is NEVER going to post.

Obesa cantavit!

What book on myth did you pick up?

The one by Karen Armstrong. Evan brought it over for dad to read.
