Sister Elizabeth

While thrift shopping yesterday, I found this doll. I've been wanting one for, oh, I'd say about 52 years now. Seems like it was about time. I had the cute little blue outfit hanging in my closet waiting for such a time as this.
But then the grandkids came today. They did NOT like the doll.

Well that is until I changed her clothes into something that used to be Famke's. Suddenly everything changed. The doll became THE MOST wanted baby.

Even Famke, who has always been extremely devoted to "Sleeping Baby" at nap time, got up just to try to snatch it out of her brothers grasping arms. She announced to me that she HATES her other babies.

Kado tried valiantly, but he could not pick it up.

Last week Jonge and Famke were talking about how they would like to have a baby sister. Since in 'real life' their names start with A, B, C, and their mommy and daddy's names both start with D, the new sister would need to be an E name. So, the new doll is now Sister Elizabeth.

Tonight, after everyone had gone home, I broke it to Sister Elizabeth that they would all be back tomorrow and would be spending the night.
Sister Elizabeth asked if she could go into the witness protection program. I found her a wig and assured her there was a onesy around here somewhere...

LOvely doll and adorable grands.
What wonderful memories they will have of you. :0)
Amazing what a wig will do....I didn't recognize her. She looked grown up.

Love the wig on her. She has a big of punk rocker going on.

What a great laugh you've given me this morning!
Isn't it interesting that they didn't like the doll with the outfit you put on it..which I DID like? I guess it didn't present the cuddle factor like the one they do like!

The doll looks demented in one photo.
I had one like her when I was a child. She wasn't demented though.
