Oh the Weather Outside Is Frightful

Five and one half inches of snow fell today. The first snow is always sooo beautiful.
It is also my 52 1/2 birthday today.
I have such a clear memory of the first time I saw it snow.
It was the same kind of snow that fell today.
Big fluffy flakes.

I was looking out the window that over looked the driveway of my childhood home.
It was the most beautiful thing I could ever remember seeing.
I remember going into the kitchen to get my mom.
She did not have the favorable reaction that I had.
She said that she didn't like it.
My thought was - Well SHE might not like it, but I do!
Since today is the first day of meteorologic winter, and I still live in the same state, I'm guessing I must have been 18 months old. In fifteen days Kado will be 18 months. He seemed to enjoy the snow today too.

It's doubtful that I will ever get a good picture of my ambient lighting all around the house, but trust me when I tell you that this looks pretty good.
My parents had a pole lamp with three arms. Nobody wanted it. It would have been awkward to transport to a thrift store, so THGGM decided to trash it.
I could not go through with that, so took the milk glass globe-y things and brought them home with me, knowing that eventually I'd think of SOMETHING to do with them.
Last week I took down what had been on my china cabinet for the past couple of years. I put three cake stands back up, put a wreath around each one, added 100 lights and set the milk glass on top of the cake stands.
So far, I'm liking it.

Hoppy birdie- two ewe....

Hope it was happy and that you and the hubs had a special night out. (or that at least you didn't have to fix dinner tonight!)

We got a nice load of new snow today. We may get several inches before it's done. It is pretty when it's new.

Your house is looking lovely.

Take good care,
Jen
