Blog Awards and Such

Jacque at www.lifebetweenthebuns.blogspot.com posed a question on her blog concerning Blog Awards. Her thoughts on this are excellent. Do visit her blog, which is lovely - like her.
I do not add blog awards to my blog for two reasons. Number one - I can never remember HOW to do it.
Number two - I cannot remember what the second reason is, but I do know that once I had a good one.
She also suggested that I tell you seven things that you may not know about me. Well, that rules out "I am boring" right from the get-go. Because you know that.
For Jacque, I will happily attempt to come up with seven!
1. It is not at all unusual for me to not leave my house for weeks at a time. Actually, the last time I left my house was last Thursday when we picked up Famke for her loooong awaited sleep-over. I cannot say that I'm proud of this, as I see it as a symptom of winter blues. But one way to combat those is a warm quilt, a furry dog, and a fire in the fireplace. And this way I give other thrift shoppers a chance at all those wonderful finds I am most assuredly missing.
2. I'm on a diet. No, I will not share what I am doing. But I will tell you that THGGM is losing weight at a remarkable pace. I, on the other hand, am not. And since his very first day on this diet he has not snored. Not once. So I may not be losing weight but I am sleeping which is a blessing. Also, not having to kick-start the man back to life in the middle of the night causes me great joy.
3. I have piles and piles of stuff I'm planning to use. Piles. Today I spent a large amount of time folding felted wool that became unfolded when that pile tipped over as I was moving the pile next to it. When I went to put the refolded pile away in a different spot I found a stuffed cotton hand I had made four years ago. Of course, I then pulled the pile back down and rifled through it to find a sweater sleeve. Can you guess where this is going? Oh yes. It looks really funny sticking out from under the covers of the bed. THGGM wonders what I do all day, I am sure. Well. There you have it.
4. Lately Famke has been napping on our bed as this leaves another room open for play. Two nights ago when I got into bed there was a colander and a flash light right where I intended to lay down my tired body. Shining a flashlight through a colander (especially the old metal 'helmet' style) is great fun at 1:oo in the morning. Last night when I attempted to crawl into bed there were three dolls already sleeping there. Oh. Should I mention here that I started out my morning by trying to bring order to the chaos that has become our bedroom? As I am sure you can tell, it isn't going quite as planned.
5. This winter we are keeping our heat set at 62 degrees, 24/7. So far it hasn't been hard to do at all. There are such things as sweaters, but being large and in my fifties, I do bring along my own heat and rarely wear one. We've already noticed a welcomed improvement in our gas bill.
6. One of my plans for January was to do some serious writing. This has NOT happened. My mind is blank. My brain seems to have turned to mush. I've even tried to FORCE myself (well, not with a gun or anything) to write but when I read it the next day I end up deleting it. It's rubbish. Truly rubbish.
7. I like Facebook. I know that a lot of people do not. My favorite reason is that I can send ALL of my children the same message and not fear that I forgot to tell one of them something important. It is such an amazing tool for keeping up with people. And an amazingly fast way to pass along an urgent message. Facebook is like the ultimate prayer request board.
There. Seven things you never even wanted to know about me! Soon I'll post a list of my favorite blogs to visit.
Now I'm off to crop and edit hundreds (okay, okay, thousands) of pictures of my grandchildren.
Oh wait. That isn't what I'm supposed to be doing today...

I miss connecting with you on FB. I lost my page and catch up with folks on Nelson's page...I haven't been able to write either. January has definitely been the month of brain mush. Our heat is set at 70. All the toys in the bed reminded me of one night when I crawled in and jumped out quite quickly...yucky cracker crumbs.

OK. You can't just say your husband hasn't snored since the first day on the diet and not tell what the diet is! PLEASE!

And re. facebook...I agree. And twice I've lost something, scoured the house searching, asked friends to pray on facebook, and found it within minutes of posting! It IS the ultimate prayer request board!

You could never be called boring, not in my book. If that's true them I'm also boring. OK, that well may be true.
My husband wears a mask for sleep apnea...no more snoring here either, just the gentle sounds of a wind tunnel. Still beats snoring, and waiting for him to breath again!

You and I are so much alike. Right down to nudging my husband during the night to make sure he is breathing. Dieting is always on my mind. Ugh! We have been on the Daniel Fast through our church for 18days and I can't tell you how anxious we are to eat real food again. Did manage to lose a few pounds though.
I visited your favorite thrift store. It is really a nice clean place and although I didn't find anything that day, I definately will go back.
Hang in there-another month of winter is almost over.(I too, tend to just want to stay home and hibernate with my Diet Pepsi and my book)

My home is where where I feel the most comfortable.
It's HOME!
Feeling somewhat like an introvert, but it's just ME.
I so know from what you speak of.

Never heard of the metal colander and flashlight thing.
Have both....may try it. :0)

Don't your hands freeze to death? I can be warm enough at cool temps but my hands get so cold and stiff I can hardly stand it - 65 degrees is my limit.

I am glad the diet is working for THGGY. I kicked started mine again after seeing my sister (diet that is).

Thanks for playing along Judy! Wow, it seems like several of us have the same issues with our hubbys...so I agree with Rebecca, you MUST tell us what diet heals snoring and waiting for the next breath! When Bob and I go on a diet together, he ALWAYS loses more and faster. Just why IS that anyway?? Oh, and I can easily go several days in a row without leaving the house and it doesn't bother me at all, and often do. Weeks? probably not...
