It is officially spring. How can it be that we are under a winter storm warning? Shouldn't it have to be called a spring storm warning? I'm going to call it that. A spring storm with ice and snow. Presently, it is pouring and thundering which is in line with spring weather, but makes for a stinky dog. Which reminds me, one day Jonge came inside from a light rain and announced disgustedly, "I smell like a wet boy!".
Today I went thrift shopping for the purpose of finding some new spring clothes. I found three shirts. I also found a recorder and number three in a series of books for girls that I am collecting for Famke, both were 10 cents.
THGGM has been working strange hours recently. Strange to me. He has adjusted just fine, as he always does, and as I never do. Anyway, today he got out of work at 11:30. We went out for lunch, ran a bunch of errands and were back home at 2:10. Normally it seems to me that time flies, but I cannot stop looking at the clock and gasping at the thought that it is only 9:35. I've already had my tea, the coffee pot is set for 4:00 AM, and I've been crocheting yellow flowers by the dozens. Tonight I just may have to give in and crawl into bed BEFORE it is actually tomorrow.
I'm reading another Henri Nouwen book. I love him. Yes. I think I'll be in bed early tonight to finish it. I also picked up another Archy and Mehitabel. Such different genres, yet equally good bedtime reading. Except, of course, for the thought that Archy is a cockroach.
Is anyone watching anything interesting on TV anymore? If you are, please tell me about it in the comments. It seems I'm watching either the History Channel or HGTV. Sometimes I wonder just how fun it would be to go on House Hunter's Vacation Homes and sneer snobbishly at something that costs over a million dollars. I think I might like to try that, once. Oh, and I do also watch The Duggars. I can't keep up with how many kids they have, so let's just call it that. I like them, in that weird sort of way one likes a TV family. My parents were lovely God-fearing people too, but they did bust out into a scream every once in a while, probably just to prove they were human. The sum totally of my parenting advice would be to yell every so often so the children in the family know that there are other emotions besides extreme calmness. Of course, I'm sure that if Mrs. Duggar ever had the opportunity to have PMS she might scream a time or two, but probably just into a thick pillow. When I was a child I always found it comforting when my mom banged the pans around in the kitchen. Although it was good to know the alternate route to the upstairs, avoiding passing through the kitchen at all costs.
THGGM has lost 30 pounds since January 10. We are on the very same diet. If I bend down very very low and squint at the scale there is ever so slightly the possiblity that I may or may not have lost a half of a pound. But I don't think so. I'm going to have to tweak something but I'm just not sure what. THGGM likes to be optimistic and kind and tell me things like "But at least your blood sugar has improved!" He's lucky he's so cute. That's all I have to say.
Famke has been exceptionally funny lately. Three and a half is an interesting age. Daughter came to my house after work one day last week. Famke had gone into the bathroom just before she came in. I mentioned this to Daughter and said that she was probably done now. Daughter opened the door and asked Famke if she had gone and if she needed any help. Famke's response? "Yes. But go away. I'm not done singing about it yet."
Oh, what a better outlook on life we all might have if we just stopped to sing about such things.

Judy, I do love your random thoughts posts, love your sense of humor. Famke's singing about it is just too cute. I will have to tell on myself and maybe embarrass myself in the process...you know when you are busy and then you just have to stop and go...so here I go running down the hall to the bathroom singing all the way...gotta pee, gotta pee, gotta pee!! Tell dear Famke she is not alone. I do stop singing once I reach the bathroom.
Love your random posts; they are so funny! One show I really like is Wind At My Back on INSP. It's a Depression-era drama.
oh, how I wish my granddaughters lived closer..............=^(

I agree with the above poster about the show, 'Wind At My Back'. Speaking of funny things, my youngest calls it, 'Wind UP My Back'!! How funny is that?
What diet are you and hubs doing? I would be beyond thrilled to lose thirty lbs.
Have a great day...

Loved this post! I respect the Duggars. They are out of the mainstream for sure with the size of their family, but all seem to be hard working, talented, and diligent! But I did have to laugh at the thought that she is probably so calm because she never gets to experience PMS! I watched one time when they were showing their newly remodeled bedroom. She smiled and said to the camera, "I just think it is so romantic!" So THAT's it! LOL I did good on my last thrift shopping trip too. I usually stick to household things because, um, I'm so had to FIT into clothes! But I lucked out with a linen like jacket, a skirt to coordinate, and another pretty and thin summer blouse. All for about $7!! Today is 1/2 price day at the Salvation Army store and if my son picks the kids up pretty soon, I might hop over there, now that I'm inspired. That phot of your granddaughter is so beautiful!!!
