Mental Health Day

Yeah, that's what I'm calling it.

I spent the day with myself.

Many plans were made for Famke's weekend sleep-over. She has chosen to make some fun things out of wooden beads, to fix up the doll house, and to make a denim pocket purse. I cannot sit by a notebook with a pen and a colored pencil without doodling. So, I doodled. All the day. Like Polly Wolly. I doodled all the day.

And caught up on a lot of blog reading.

I even watched a movie. That is something that I rarely do in the middle of the day. But I watched "Eat, Pray, Love".

Then some storms blew through.

Twice in fifteen minutes the tornado sirens wailed.

Thankfully, there were no tornadoes near us. But, it's a county-wide system, so a tornado anywhere in the county means the sirens blow.

There was some impressive rain, even rained while the sun shown brightly.

Little hints of green are beginning to show on the trees and bushes.

In my yard all that has appeared are daffodils and hyacinths. Soon the house across the street will be hidden by leaves

And, oh, how I LOVE using the utility wires like the lines on manuscript paper.

Are you watching the eagles?

I've been leaving the site up while I go about my day.

If you'd like to, just google Decorah Eagles at Ustream.

It's been a very long time since something has fascinated me this much. Such a wonder of technology to be able to watch a pair of eagles raise their young.

Not quite so thrilling when breakfast arrives in the nest not even dead. But, I suppose, they DO have to eat.

So what do YOU do for a mental health day?

I love mental health days. Had one on Monday. I SHOULD have done more than what I did - but on THIS particular one I just schlushed about in my robe. ALL day. Sometimes I slept. Sometimes I blogged. I watched Judge Judy. My next M.H. day will probably be spent differently. I didn't feel too good about myself on Tuesday.

The sleepover plans sound fun. I know you'll have a great time.

I stay in my pj's all day on my mental health days. Like you, if paper and pen are in my reach, I doodle. I have always done that. I need to do some errands today, hoping the rain stops and I can do them and stay dry. Sounds like great plans for you and Famke. Have fun!

I haven't tuned in to the eagles for awhile. Thanks for the reminder.
