Today

Sing with me now! "Oh what fun it is to sit around and wait for someone to unclog your sewer drain!" There are other verses, about laundry piling up, dishes needing doing, showers needing to be taken, and other stuff. Oh, wait. That wasn't fun. It seems we had this same problem back in August. A very nice man came out, unclogged the drain (the one in the floor in the basement)and that was that. Until last night, when very SUDDENLY and out of NOWHERE it clogged again. The same very nice man came late this morning to work his magic again. Even he was mystified about what exactly the problem is. But, it works now. I'm not even going to think about it EVER happening again. It works NOW and I am so very thankful for things that go flush in the night. Today THGGM came home from work and began his VACATION! Tomorrow we shall gather for breakfast to celebrate Son-in-law's birthday (today) and Jonge's birthday (Sunday). Then on Sunday we will celebrate Christmas with my side of the family. Here. Hopefully with clean tablecloths, dishes, and fully functioning bathrooms. Tonight we did a little bit of shopping. Not grocery shopping. We are saving that task until tomorrow. You know, when everyone else is out grocery shopping. No. Tonight we went to the thrift store around the corner, World Market, Michael's, Meijer, and THGGM went to Younkers. I'm never going to want to take down my decorations this year. I keep finding such great stuff at 75% off. See the 'star' in my kitchen window? This is what I do when I should be sleeping. That star is a folding ruler. For some reason Meijer had them on clearance with their Christmas stuff, so I'm assuming other people must make stars out of them also? It sort of looked like a picked-over-bin of stocking stuffer stuff. They had been $4.99, but were on sale for a dollar twenty something. Could you have passed that up? THGGM could have. But wait til he gets up tomorrow morning and is greeted with all of the things I've redecorated while he slept! Won't he be surprised? No. He won't. But whatever. So that's what I did today. What did you do?

Oh, Judy, sewer problems, I had one a few weeks ago, Husband and son fixed it with some sort of flexible metal long and thready thing, he said I should flush the drain more often with boiling water since we have got a dishwasher, so saturday is hot water flushing day over here. Maybe a root of that wonderfull tree utside had crept under your floor and is dislocating the drain, do not start digging. In the worst situation they have cameras to send through the drains, it is worth the cost, because digging up floors is very costly. Thank you for the congratulations and the mail. The birthdayguys get my best wishes and all of you have a wonderfull 2012. DM.

I have a couple of those rulers too. Aww great minds. I am not tired of my Christmas yet. I love all the lights. Guess I may have to un-decorate next week. I am leaving lights up in my laundry room. I always do. It is my own little honky tonk.

I was still tweaking my decor yesterday. I have no intentions of disassembling, it is all so pretty and magical! And what do we want to usher in? January?, not so quickly, my dears.
I want to go thriftiness with you..... Sorry about the sewer, the laundry, the dishes, the sleepless nights. You do make them so lovely tho!

Sorry to hear of the sewer problems, hope you figure it out before it starts emptying itself into your house.

My overpacked car has now spewed it's guts all over my house. It would be easier if it had done it its self, but no, I lugged it all in. Had to buy groceries so I would have something in my house to eat.

Considering I've been gone for 2 years, MY house is being extremely nice . . . so far.

A folding ruler. I have an at one joint broken folding ruler my Dad always used. Dad died in 1986 and the ruler is now mine. Never knew what to do with it, but he used it so often, it is dear to me. Now I know, I will fold a star with it and maybe glue the joint a bit, but I will not fix it, I want to keep it like my Dad kept the ruler even when he got himself a new one. DM.
