First Stop, Suttons Bay

Our first stop last week Wednesday was Suttons Bay.

It was a bit cold and drizzly along the west bay, but still very beautiful.

I would have taken more pictures of all the cute shops, but I'm only going to include one.

Because it has been my favorite shop in Suttons Bay for many years.

And, because all of the other shops we went into in this town were remarkably unfriendly.

How difficult is it to look up and say "hello" when someone walks into your store?  Since I am married to "Mr. Customer Service" he is extremely picky about this.

At one of the stores I had four things I intended to purchase, but put them down and left.
But Anchor Cottage is NOT one of those stores.
It is very customer service friendly and carries many things I cannot resist.  I found a vintage baby plate and two Cornish Ware mugs.  She also carries Emma Bridgewater.

Suttons Bay has the cleanest public restrooms down by the marina.

Can you read the message scrawled on the wall where a mirror would go?

It simply says "You look fine."

I didn't look fine, but it was a nice gesture anyway.

That last picture did it, it made me grin up to a snoring sound. I love this roadsign in my country at some roundabouts, when you are approaching there is a sign : use your blinkers, please (how do you call the lamps blinking like crazy on your car, signaling that you want to turn left or right?) and when you have made the turn there is a sign, sinply saying: "Thank you for blinking", on which I give myself a shouldertap, I am sooo trafficreglements obedient! Shop personnel not being friendly, acting like the client should feel privileged to buy in that shop annoys me and my husband also terribly. in the 50's I remember them being overfriendly, always at your heels trying to sell something, my mother told me it was because they got a percentage of the sale they made to increase their standard too low income. But a smile and a hello cost nothing, thank you when receiving the salesmoney and goodbey also cost nothing.I must say that there are clients who could do with a lesson of costfree friendliness too. And in my country the sun sets every evening in all colours of pink the last few days. Remember "evening red and morning grey are sure signs of a nice day". The other one "evening grey and morning red, the lambs and calves will go wet to bed". Third week of English lessons at school, never forgotten, but I am a farmers daughter, it was useful to me.DM
