Monday Snow Day!

No school today for the two big kids, so I got to spend the day with them too!

They found many ways to entertain themselves.

I made homemade macaroni and cheese and soft carrots (cooked) which is one thing I can count on them all being happy about.

Famke got an American Girl doll from all of her aunts on her daddy's side of the family.  Her doll looks just like her!

Of course, I could not resist finding a cute outfit for her to wear.

Last night I crocheted the hat, and they BOTH now have the matching scarf.

In the nicest way possible, Famke told me that she isn't really "in to" pieces of cloth and pins.  This followed my showing her how she could fashion a wrap skirt out of some  upholstery samples I found for a quarter at the thrift store on Saturday.

I have a pattern for a "wardrobe" for an AG doll that should be delivered tomorrow.  I made sure I picked out an outfit that wasn't anything I could ever make.

While we were trying on all of the new clothes I mentioned that I thought maybe I should get an American Girl doll for myself, so I could have one to try on the clothes I plan to make (at least in my dreams, as i cannot recall ever having anything i've made turn out).

Jonge got a rather funny look on his face and then said, "Beppe, I don't think you are going to find one that looks like you."
Well that's good.  I don't think I'd want a doll that had thinning gray hair, trifocals, chubby cheeks, a double chin, and walks with a waddle.

Today the transient pain in my left leg came back and I had to use my dad's cane to hobble around the house.

So this doll would need a cane too, I suppose.

While Famke and I were playing dolls, the boys were on the floor making a road, house, ramps, train tracks, and tunnels out of blocks.

We all did a very good job staying busy and warm today.  And tomorrow is another snow day, but mommy doesn't have to work!

Out of the mouths of babes! ;0)
A few of my grands had those dolls and kept me busy knitting clothes for them. Still have one button down the front sweater that I could not part with. Maybe I was hoping I'd get an American Girl doll too. ;0) Of course...a younger me. LOL
(((hugs)))
