Today At My House

Earlier in the week I was holding a sleeping Broeder when I noticed the bushes under the window were quivering like crazy.  Then I saw it.  A Cooper's Hawk (i think) sitting in the middle of our front yard.
Today I was sitting in the same chair, telling  the story to anyone who would listen, when I looked out the window, and  in the tree right across the street was a hawk.
Of course I grabbed my camera. I was able to get a few good pictures, and so was Jonge, who has a steadier arm than I do.
It's a beautiful bird.

I've been seeing this one, or one just like it, for five years now.

Outside My Living Room Window Today

Famke had a tummy ache this morning so had to miss school.  Her and her little brothers were sitting on the couch with me when suddenly she said "There's a hawk!"
I glanced out the window, then ran for my camera.
I have a new camera that I am just becoming familiar with.
So far, I am rather happy with it!
And the hawk wasn't in much of a hurry to get away.
I can recognize a red tailed hawk, but this one didn't have a red tail.  So I'm not entirely sure what it is.
Some sources said it might be "immature", but we stared at it for quite some time without it ever sticking its tongue out at us or going "nah, nah, na, nah, nah!" so I'm not certain.  It seemed mature to me.

A Pair of Hawks

This afternoon Famke, Kado, Feintsje, and I went outside to play. As soon as I settled into my chair with Feintsje and his bottle, I looked up to see a pair of hawks flying directly over our heads. Famke ran inside to find my camera. By the time I had my camera pointed to the sky they had moved down a bit. For about twenty minutes they circled over head.

Oh, hawks. So beautiful.
