Was this Saturday?

Today started full of all the joy and expectancy of Saturday, ah...Saturday! I got up early, had a cup of coffee, and went to work.
Before breakfast, I had gotten a phone call from my dad, who was suffering again with a seriously painful bout of gout. I made a few calls, got a new prescription, adjusted all of his other medications (we are rejoicing that soon he will be able to take vioxx again!) and made it to breakfast only three minutes late. I felt so happy to not have to take him out into the cold to the ER this time.
But, avoiding a trip to the ER was not to be. It just wasn't my dad who needed to go. While attempting to thrift shop, the husband God gave me got a call from youngest son, who was playing basketball with some friends at his former high school, and 'did something to' his ankle. He certainly did. After icing it and watching it increase in size, I took the dreaded trip to the ER. But not before arguing privately with THGGM about whose responsibility this was. He assured me it was mine.
Youngest son does not do well in medical situations. His pulse was a racing 130 when we arrived. His ankle was not broken. Just badly sprained. And, with the new 'fast track' at the ER, we were in and out - x-rays and all - in 90 minutes. This is either the 4th or 5th bad sprain he has had on this ankle. One would think that he would retire from basketball, but I don't think I will bring that up until he is in a better mood.
So, not much FUN Saturday stuff to report. I did make one more thrift store book run, which turned up a few good things. And, I got a 'Sag Harbor' plaid blazer for $2.50.
I think I'll go to work now. My computer 'closet' is in the den, where three loud men are watching the slam dunk competition.

This is true. It is also true that all the bags of candy in the house were empty upon our return.

i will retire from basketball when i can no longer score consistently from 3 point land, or dunk. even after 4 ankle injuries i can still throw down, and at 6'2 and slightly overweight.. that's quite an accomplishment!
