Doctor's Appointment

Daughter had a doctor's appointment today.

Today starts her 9th month.

Her due date is January 5.

But, today the doctor told her to be ready, he could come at any time!

Head down, dilated 2 centimeters, all systems are go.

Well, that's exciting, but I think doctors shouldn't say stupid things like that. They should say, "it could be a month, could be six weeks, be sure to relax and take it easy and enjoy these last days."

I'm with Mel on that one - in my experience with pregnant women as a doula, statements like that to women (especially 1st time moms) set them up for emotions and expectations that are unnerving at best and dissasterous at worst.

Aside from that -
I really hope that she continues to feel awesome and can relish in these last few days/weeks....they are such a special time.
Its the only time in our life when we actually get to "assist" God in miracle making.

I believe that his comments were more along the line of not having to worry about having him too soon anymore.

She did go home and pack her bag, though.

I still look more pregnant than she does.
