Interesting Things You Should Know

I'm not sure why, except because I say so.

There is a fabulous buffet at a restaurant in the tiny central Michigan town of Wyman. You should come to Michigan just to go there. I've been going to write a 'review' about our trip there two weeks ago, but my creative juices refuse to flow while packing boxes.

I insist that you run out and buy a book by Christopher de Vinck. I wish he would produce a show for PBS called 'Mr. de Vinck's Neighborhood'. His words are helping me to get through this bumpy summer.

Remember the deep and heartfelt devotion I had for that family of robin's? They are punishing me for disturbing their family life. They bomb my laundry as it flaps on the line. Not happy, me.

Come visit downtown Grandville. The furniture store where we bought our yellow couch closed down. I felt sad about this, until an antique mall moved in. Oh, this is not just any antique mall, it's a very very very nice antique mall. I haven't bought anything there. Yet. THGGM bought a wooden box to add to his very nice wooden box collection. And today he went back to purchase a chunk of marble. He has plans to someday use it as the base for a bathroom sink. I plan to make taffy and fudge on it at Christmas time. (unless, of course, it is in the bathroom. then it would just be wrong.)
What would happen if I just threw away all of my unfinished projects? Would the world implode? Would planets collide? Would anyone at all even care, or notice? Would I feel free and happy, or would guilt overtake my life?
Would New Baby feel less loved if her onesies are all plain white, or should I continue to pursue my plan to carve my own stamps to use to paint on all those onesies I bought for her? Oh, wait. I can no longer open the drawer all that stuff is in, because it has stacks of boxes pressed against it.
Above is another picture of one of THGGM's yard sale vignettes. I do believe that he had a fabulous time. I am still in shock at how much money he made. At one point, he moved off of his swing, as people could not see him from the yard. He moved a chair and ottoman from the porch to sit on in the yard. A lady asked him 'how much for the chair and ottoman?' Since he had no plans to sell it, he said 'one hundred dollars'. She bought it right out from under him without batting an eye!
Okay. So none of this is interesting. I just thought I'd give 'interesting' a try.
It's back to boring for me.
It is good to be good at something, even if that something is 'being boring'.

Well, it was interesting to ME! And, let me tell you as a former..no, let's put that as a STILL-recovering-packrat-who-has-changed-her-ways-CONSIDERABLY...you'll feel LIBERATED if you just toss stuff out. Seriously. We think we just can't live without 'stuff' but we can, Judy...we can. It's hard. But it's do-able. And Baby Girl won't even notice the difference if her onesies are white. Pretty soon they'll be upchuck-stained anyway...and outgrown in the blink of an eye. So...ok...do you feel better after my peptalk now?!? LOL! (((((HUGS)))))) to you, my buddy.

I've chucked knitting projects I never wanted to see again and it felt wonderful.

How good that makes me feel is directly proportional to how long they've been sitting unloved in the closet.

Something ignored for five years feels fantastic to throw away. Something only ignored for a month or two needs to age in the closet for a while before it's ready to get tossed with glee.

Last time we moved, I used the move as an excuse to shorten the time requirement. You're in a great position to rationalize weeding things out. Take advantage of it.
