Thankfully, a Boring Post

We have had a bit too much excitement here this week. Neither Daughter and Son-in-law nor we will be closing on our houses today. Maybe next week. Although, next week being a major vacation week for most, who knows. THGGM and I have decided that our move only effects us, so the stress is much less than it is for Daughter, who must consider Baby Boy and New Baby. Plans have been made for New Baby to arrive in six weeks. Hopefully, they will all be well settled by that time.

Now, we COULD have had fabulous excitement here last night, but thankfully it was thwarted by THGGM.

As he mowed down my 'cornfield planted by squirrels' which was my backyard he noticed a rather large amount of large, shall we say, 'animal droppings'. We have a bunny that frequents our impromptu garden, but these were NOT from a bunny. He asked me if our cat had been outside lately. But, he hasn't. When it is hot and humid like it had been, I leave the back door shut. This eliminates him leaving the house via the 'pet door' Baby Boy's dog Charley created in the screen door.

Now for the boring part that could have been exciting. You are on the edge of your seat, aren't you? You are remembering that once we killed 43 mice in an two month period. You are remembering the bat that flew around my bedroom. You are remembering the nest of baby birds that nearly landed on my closet floor (oh, wait. i didn't tell you about that.)

THGGM stepped out onto the backporch last night to retrieve laundry from the dryer. As he did, a feral cat - who had used the 'Charley made door' to get in, quickly ran out of the porch and into the backyard.

How do we KNOW it was a feral cat?

We have had several take up nightly perches AROUND the house in the nine years we have lived here. The summer of the broken leg, one slept right out side the window from me, and would awaken me with a start by bellering at approximately 5:00 AM every morning. Feral cats tend to have matted dirty fur and usually have some sort of deformity. Another one that we used to see in our early years here was all black and it's head was permanently turned to one side. They do not resemble housecats much.

I doubt that by moving we will rid ourselves of these pesky night-time visitors. We aren't moving far at all.

Oh.., had that cat made it in any farther, boring would have gone right out the window.

Instead, excitement escaped through my screen door.

Have I mentioned lately that I LIKE 'boring'? Boring reigns supreme here, and I like it that way.

I had never heard of Feral cats until last night whilst talking to some women at Curves...and here you mention it too. That would have been some kind of excitement!

I'm liking "boring" more and more these days!

Sorry to hear about the closing date troubles, but it seems they do not hire folks with brains to do that kind of work. Our last house we owned and sold was back in Dec. 1999 and that was such a horror to go through, we simply have not been brave enough to buy yet again...maybe never will. We could have sued some people over that fiasco!! I just figured it was part of an appropriate send off from living in that awful town. Never SO glad to leave a place as I was there...STILL glad these 7 years since too!! And hoping the LORD NEVER lets us live in such a place ever again...I hope we learned our lessons there well!! Hope to hear your move is over soon...it is hard to be in upheaval!!
