Well. We have been here a week now.
Slowly, we (um, 'we' meaning thggm) are emptying out the old house. It will be torn down, so we've been told it isn't necessary that we hurry. Good thing. It has been SO hot! Son-in-law took his truck over and pulled out the things that are going to 'the kids'. A twin bed for Baby Boy, a huge bookcase for Oldest Son and who knows what else.
Today we started a new family tradition. Going from house to house for Saturday breakfast. I will miss the friends we have made over the years at our local restaurant, but since we have ALL moved this year, counting pennies has become the bigger issue for all of us.
So, this morning we all met at Daughter and Son-in-law's new home. Baby Boy was THRILLED to have us all at his house. Even his dog-cousin Lily came to play with Charley. Breakfast was wonderful. Since I am still stoveless (until monday) I got up early, made two potato casseroles and dropped them off to Daughter's oven while THGGM and I went to Target and Menard's. We returned an hour later. Shocking how empty Target is at 9:00 on Saturday morning.
Both THGGM and I have felt sad all day. Neither of us can pin-point why. Maybe just too much going on? It's been a tiring week.
Even thrift shopping didn't help, much. Daughter told me that she didn't have all that much 'girl stuff' for New Baby, so off I went to my favorite stores. This weekend I've found two pink receiving blankets, two pink rose-bud sleepers, a teeny tiny Baby Gap denim diaper cover, a pink striped onesie, a dress, and a denim embroidered jeans jumper with a red shirt. One of the stores had a 'buy one get two free' sale going on. That's always nice! I also found a Graco stroller in very nice condition for only $12.00. Now I will have one on hand at all times.
I did buy two books, but please don't tell anyone. I found a hardcover "The Grapes of Wrath" and "The Flower and the Nettle" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. These will be nice additions to collections I plan to keep. Now I feel a bit more inspired to start unloading my books.
THGGM worked extremely hard today. He re-sorted the entire garage, moved all of my bookcases into position in the basement and with the help of Oldest Son, carried more of my art room stuff into my basement workshop (THREE rooms. i have THREE rooms of my very own in the basement.) It is now 11:05 PM and he is busily priming the dining room. (you would never guess what i am doing. oh, wait. you would.)
Oldest Son set up my DSL today also. That means I am almost back to normal with my computer. Almost, because I still have to send mine back. It is one year old today. I have been sent replacement cord after replacement cord but like I keep telling the Dell guy, THAT ISN'T THE PROBLEM. So, I made him put it in writing that if the new cord he sent me didn't solve it THIS TIME that I could STILL send it back and have the warranty cover it.
I wonder...
Do you think they will cover the 'M' key that I sucked up in my vacuum cleaner when I got the not-so-bright idea to suck all the cat fur out of my keyboard?

Judy,
I am glad your move is progressing. You guys seem to have so much more energy than I do!
I hope it continues to go smoothly
Are you just a little sad that your old house is being torn down? I think that would make me sad.
Three art rooms....sniff...I am so happy for you!
Did you give me your address and I just missed it? If so, leave it in a comment in my blog so I can find it. I am terrible about not checking the comments on other people's blogs.
It sounds like things are moving along nicely for you - even the displaced feelings are normal, you know.
Take care of yourself.
Prairie Mel! It's so good to 'hear' from you again!
Nancyr - I am very sad that the old house will be torn down. But, it wasn't ours so there was absolutely nothing we could do about it. Well, except for cry.
Grandma Mary - I would happily share some of my room with you! One room has lots of shelves - I believe it was for canning storage. Another could rather easily be turned into a bedroom, but we don't need another bedroom. The third room is a dream work room with a large metal table with lots of storage under and peg-board up against one wall.
ME - I e-mailed you my address.
Anyone who thinks I have ANY energy at all is mistaken. THGGM does. I'm an emotional hormonal 49 year old mess. And fat. Very very fat.
What I DO have is a lot of IDEAS!!!
