Woodpecker

I heard him before I saw him.


The tree has barely any life left in it, I just wish he would have shown up sooner to eat whatever it is that is killing this tree.

We have big Brown Woodpeckers that set up a HUGE racket at this time of year, trying to attract their mates. Not only do they peck on trees and utility poles but the metal fireplace caps on roofs, too. And they have a LOUD, racous squawk that blasts from treetops. Thankfully it doesn't last for a very long period of time. I like them, tho...every now and then they get brave enough to come down to the ground under the feeders.
