While doing more antique shopping along the Lake Michigan shore (well, not actually ON the shore, but close enough!) on Friday with THGGM, I found a few small things.
The antiques mall was having a sale and almost everything was 20% off.
As we were paying, I noticed behind me was a tall cabinet and sitting rather precariously on top of it was the pitcher pictured above.
I had THGGM (who is tall) take it down for me.
It was more than two hundred dollars less than a similar one I'd recently seen a couple of hours down the highway.
And it was 20% off.
Of course, I snapped it up. It has a slight condition issue (who doesn't) which attributed to it's fantastic price. This is why I don't mind condition issues. Were there no condition issues I wouldn't be able to afford anything.
It's that cute little face above that sold me. To me, that's art. And she looks like family.

Antique Shopping
![]() |
THGGM and I had a WONDERFUL weekend.
It included many things, one of which was antique shopping in Saugatuck with my much beloved aunt from Wisconsin.
There were TWO of these blue mugs, so we didn't have to fight over them!

Hmm. I'm going to need to rework things, AGAIN. I found quite a few interesting things, but the mug was my favorite! (besides three really cool puppets that I keep telling myself are for the grandkids.)

Century Antique Mall
As we perused the locked cases (which is something i rarely do. because if it needs to be locked up, i cannot afford it) something caught my eye.
What did I find? But a piece of Royal Bayreuth! And I knew then that I had found exactly what THGGM would want for Father's Day.He had found the pitcher on the right a while back at Wooden Shoe Antique Mall in Holland. I was a bit less excited, as, well, look at it. Not my style, not my colors, but as THGGM is wont to point out, not just MY house.
Now I have to admit that I have fallen for it. Otherwise I would not have shown him the smaller piece on the left. Which he liked very very much. So it's his now. For Father's Day.
Secretly, I do wish it were the Sun Bonnet Girls Royal Bayreuth that he liked. But, he's right, it is his house too.
If you live in the Grand Rapids area, or pass through it, Century Antique Mall is on Century, which runs right along US 131 - just south of the bus terminal.

Look What I Found
A Cass Toys VINTAGE chalkboard easel! It can be used as an easel or as a desk.
It also has six cards that fit into the top.
All six are in very good condition.
I cannot account as to why, but it was hidden away in an odd spot and had been marked down twice.
Now it seems inevitable that I shall be homeschooling my 'big doll'.

Fine Find
.jpg)
This weekend THGGM and I went antique looking.
He was unable to find anything in his price range ($0.00).
I found this!
We'd gone with the idea that we were 'just looking'.
But, I found this plate.
Do you not also think that it is cute?
I've seen plates with barely recognizable graphics in them go for $35.00 or more.
So, when I turned it over I was shocked to see that it was only $7.00.
Quite possibly, 'babies toting guns' isn't a popular motif for collectors of vintage baby items.
I like it.
I really really like it.
