Kentwood Baseball League

After a busy first day of summer vacation, what could be more fun than a baseball game?

Jonge is a good baseball player. You would want him on YOUR team.
Every week the teams show great improvement.
Jonge is number 10.  He found the cool red batting helmet at the thrift store last year.  He could not wait to use it, and now he can!  It is okay that I brag about this kid, isn't it?  After all, he is not MY child, and did not get his athletic abilities from me.  No.  Not from me.  Anyway.., can you tell we are all proud of him?
He LOOKS like a baseball player too.
Oh, and the other kids found interesting ways to keep themselves entertained.  Oh Summer Fun, we are soooo glad to have you back!

Signs of Spring

Kado slipped in the backyard and hurt his knee. The first person to his side was his loving sister, Famke. While she made sure he was fine, I ran for the anti-bacterial ointment. The kind that takes the sting out.

Shined his cute little knee up very nicely, I thought.

But Kado had his own ideas about the treatment of his injury.

Bubbles! He worked very hard to get his clean wound cleaned up.

He was very pleased with the outcome.

I'm putting a lot of faith in the anti-bacterial ointment.

Not going to even THINK about what I use that red shovel for.

Since I Cannot Remember When

THIS is what excited looks like!
THGGM took the 'big kids' to the splash pad twice this week.
Of course, it is always wise not to tell them ahead of time. One never knows what might happen to prevent something fun from occurring. And, in our family, we have read "The Lumber Room".
THGGM called before he left work so that I could have the big kids get their bathing suits on.
They accomplished that in record time. Yet, on Monday, they did not know why they were doing this.
But when Pake made the BIG announcement, this is the excited face that came to tell me where they were going!
I cannot remember when I've looked this excited. Maybe never.
Oh, wait. I suspect I looked something like this when I found the old doll head at the antique mall.

Kado with Hair

Jonge and Famke thought Kado needed to try hair.
He LIKED it. He really really LIKED it!

Babies

Just a reminder that my grandchildren do have 'normal' names.

But, on my blog they are "Jonge", which means boy, and

"Famke" which means girl.

Since there is a new baby boy on the way, I've been trying to find a suitable name for him on my blog.

And last week I came up with one!

It has taken me until today to remember to note it here, lest I forget when the time comes.

His name shall appear on my blog as "Kado", which is the Frisian word for gift.

I'm thinking about babies because today I became a GREAT aunt! I have two nephews already and they are rather awesome, but now for the very first time I have a GREAT one! I cannot wait to see him. Last week Sunday I got to watch him jump around a lot. That was fun. But I really want to meet him. I hear that he has a lot of long dark hair, just like his mommy (my niece) did.
