Wednesday Morning Find

Oh, look!

It's a LARGE dead fish!
Pake found it.
Jonge dug a hole for it.

I scooped it up with the shovel and dropped it into its sandy grave.
The grave marker, a chunk of burnt driftwood.
Now we are all hoping that the waves don't reach that high while we are still here.

In case you didn't know, dead fish STINK.

Anyway..,

In other news, it was beautiful this morning down on the beach!

The Baby Statue. I Mean Sewing Machine.

This is the birthday present that THGGM chose for himself this year.
It is a Singer sewing machine.
The bench and a box full of sewing things came along with it.
It is really a beautiful cabinet, and makes for a lovely end table.
He cared not a wit that it had a sweet old black Singer sewing machine in it, but that was a thrill for me!  And, it isn't even my birthday!
Does anyone else who has ever read the children's book "Harriett the Spy" remember the couple that Harriett spied on who purchased a baby statue?
Whenever we get something new, we like to sit and stare at it like that couple did.
As soon as it was in place, TTHGM invited me to sit down and look at his "baby statue" with him.

Resting

Thanks for all of your help with how to get a dog to take pills.

What finally worked this morning was to crush the pills and roll them in cream cheese.  Zeke did not seem pleased to just eat it, so I used a fork and pressed it into his front paw, right where he lays his head.

The boy does not like anything sticky on his fur.

He licked it off.  Twice.

It's obvious that he is still in pain, but at least he is now walking using both legs, and the crying has stopped.

THGGM just let him inside, as they were both napping in the backyard.

THGGM had jury duty this afternoon.  They didn't want him, as it turns out.

Our dryer broke over the weekend (it was NOT a good weekend).  With a bit of investigating THGGM was able to ascertain what was wrong, order the part on line, watch a You Tube video on how to fix it, and get it running perfectly again.  He is amazing.

Has anyone else noticed that I do not handle stress well at all?  Ugh.  I don't.  Stress also makes me dream weird things.  One night this week, a night when I didn't think I'd slept at all, the alarm woke me just as I was joining a Conga Line in a bunny suit.  I was angry because a friend of mine had the bunny suit like Ralphy wore in A Christmas Story, and MY bunny suit was brown, open in the back, and didn't have feet.

Dreams are weird.

But then, so am I.

Fun Find!

We interrupt our regular schedule (which includes things like vacuuming, food prep and the filling of plastic eggs) to bring you this exciting news!
I found a polka dot mug! At the thrift store! It matches some bowls that I already have!  Now I have a NEW favorite mug!
Okay.  Now you can go back to whatever it was you were doing.
Oh, wait.  It's ME who has to go back to what I was doing.., sigh...

Camera Attachment

So.
Today it was just me and Feintsje.
When his smile began to taper off, all I needed to do was snag his favorite toy and place it around my camera lens.

Just passing along one of my little secrets!

Oh This Makes Me Happy

Took this picture last night in poor light.

Yet, this morning it makes me just as happy as it did last night.

And I do not even know why.

Blue, white, red, stripey, polka-dotty goodness.

This morning they are all back to where they belong.

As am I.

Mother's Day

It really WAS a Happy Mother's Day.

I thought it might be dreadfully sad, this being the first Mother's Day without my mom. Last Mother's Day she was in the hospital, but seemed to be improving. Knowing my mom as well as I do, she would not have wanted any of her family to be moping around on this day.

Most of my day was spent in my very own backyard.

It was lovely. I took hundreds of pictures, which have yet to be gone through.

I hate to brag, but I DO have the three very best children. And they are each married to the three very best children-in-laws.

And certainly you have picked up on just how much I adore those grandkids.

Anyway..,

I could not have done it without the very best husband in the world.

So, THGGM, I lift my cup to you!

Because I Like Them

In my search for the perfect embossed vintage glass, I have occasionally stumbled across something CLOSE to what I've been looking for.
But, last week I found as nearly perfect of a find as I think I ever will.
The price was right. Only $2.99.
AND I had a gift card.
I am now the proud owner of four (hopefully soon to be more) Cock-a-doodle-do glasses.
LOVE how they look with milk in them.
You can buy some too. Cost Plus World Market.
