Untitled Thoughts

Could it be? Could summer actually be over already?

I believe so. But, is this a bad thing?

Not when you dislike heat and humidity as much as I do.

This is MY time of year.

Time for porch sitting.

Baking cookies. Making chilis. Stew in the oven for five hours.

Picking up fallen leaves. Ironing them between waxed paper.

This morning I watched the neighborhood teem with children heading back to school. Shiny new backpacks on their backs. Band instruments in tow.

I raised my mug of coffee to them, thankful that it wasn't me.

I love this time of year.

It's still too early out here on the West Coast -- not quite 6 am --for the kids to be heading to school but I'm like you...I'm glad it's not me! No...better yet...I'm DELIRIOUS it isn't me, lol! Enjoy your porch-sitting, Judy. I plan on finishing another Elizabeth Buchan book out on my back porch later this morning. It's chilly mornings here now, but once the sun's up it's beautiful. 84 for a high today...I'm getting my hair cut if it's the last thing I do!!! Grandma's on vacation this week! ;-) And the kids have invited us over for a barbecue tonite so we can spend some time visiting with d-i-l's mom, who's out here visiting from Oklahoma this week. No cooking....woooooo hooooooo! Right now I'm heading downstairs to spend a blissful hour on my exercise bike, listening to tunes, pedaling to the metal, and going absolutely nowhere.

Hey! This is MY time of year! ...heh.... We had the most incredible August--it felt, and even looked a bit, like autumn the last two weeks-- how wonderful it feels to have had extra weeks of autumn! Blessings, Debra
